History
Xiongu was a tribe located in Mongolia during ancient times. Khan was a brutal warrior who conquered many nations. Mongolia ruled independence in 1911 because china's last dynasty fell. In 1924 Mongolia became part of the soviet union.
People and Places
Most of the people in Mongolia speak Khalkha Mongol. The Gobi desert is located in Mongolia it is the coldest and driest desert in the world. Ulaanbaatar is the capital and is home of one third of Mongolia's population. Around 40% of Mongolia`s population has no religion.
Lifestyle
Mongolia is known for horse racing, Mongol wrestling, and archery. Mongolian city kids play soccer and basketball. Mongolia has two favorite holidays : childrens day and Tsagaan Sar. Only 8 years of school is required in Mongolia and most boys wear suits to school.
Society
Mongolia has been trying to create a modern Democratic Government. Nearly half of Mongolia`s population raise horses, cattle, camels, sheep, goats, or yaks. Mongolia's currency is a tugrik. Many people who live outside of the cities use horses as transportation.
