AEB Football 101

Policies and Procedures for Game Days

Everyone loves Friday (or Thursday) night football in Texas!

In order for AEB to have a great halftime performance and support our Eagle Athletes, there are procedures and policies in place.

Whether you are new or returning... please read carefully.

Important: Attendance at all performances (including football games) is required of all members of AEB.

General Game Itinerary - Varies from Game to Game

Each game is slightly different, but the timeline of each evening is similar. This sample timeline is based on this Friday's game.

  • 4:30pm - School ends. All students head to Fine Arts Building for tailgating. Students are expected to eat immediately and quickly. If you did not attend shopping day, you will not have food. See a director before 4:30pm Friday to correct this.
  • 5:00pm - Inspection. All students will be checked for all required materials. Again, if you did not attend shopping day, you will not have what you need. See a director before 4:30pm Friday to correct this.
  • 5:30pm - Load busses.
  • 5:40pm - Depart Akins.
  • 6:15pm - Arrive Burger.
  • 7:00pm - Pregame events.
  • 7:30pm - Game begins.
  • 8:30pm - Approximate halftime performance.
  • 10:30pm - Approximate end of game.
  • 11:30pm - Approximate return to Akins.

Times prior to the start of the game are adjusted based on the location of the game.

Times after the start of the game will vary based on the football game itself.

All students must be picked up no later than 30 minutes after return to Akins!

Students will be asked to phone their ride upon boarding the busses to head back to Akins.

Akins Administration and/or AISD Police will be contacted for any students who are still at Akins 30 minutes after our return.

Expectations in the Stands

Our primary role while in the stands at the game is to support the team and encourage school spirit throughout the night.

As always, our two beloved AEB rules apply:

Rule #1 - "Don't be stupid!"

Rule #2 - "If at any point you think you shouldn't... don't!"

Some other general reminders and guidelines to make sure we can do our job on Thursday or Friday night:

  • Pay attention...you will be asked to play often and quickly.
  • Stay in your section...do not "travel" throughout the setup.
  • Do not play your instrument unless instructed by a director.
  • Display good sportsmanship at all times.
  • Be careful with your instrument...it's an expensive "toy".
  • No non-band members in the band setup...this includes former band members and alumni.
  • Students will not leave the setup any time without permission. Bathroom breaks will be given with permission from a chaperone and in groups of only two.
  • Your uniform (summer or formal) must be worn correctly at all times.
  • Follow all instructions from Drum Majors, Captains, and student leadership.

Parents! Come support your students!

There is nothing quite like watching your student show off after hundreds of hours of practice.

Come see why they voluntarily get up so early and work so hard! Let them show off for you!

Akins HS vs Crockett HS

Friday, Sep. 1st, 7:30-10:30pm
