News From Our Guidance Team
January will be an exciting time for our 8th grade students as they begin the high school scheduling process. They will also receive their PSAT results and set up their College Board accounts.
8th grade students will receive their PSAT results during advisory. They will also be setting up their Khan Academy accounts and linking them to their College Board accounts.
January 10 and January 11
Informational meetings about the PSAT results will be held for parents at both middle schools. Two different dates and times will be offered, so parents can attend the meeting that works best for them. It does not matter which school their child attends. The first meeting will be offered Wednesday, January 10, at 6:00 p.m, in the Ben Franklin Auditorium. The second meeting will be offered Thursday, January 11, at 11:30 a.m., at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in the Flex Room.
Mrs. Zimmerman, the Director of Guidance at VHS, will meet with the 8th graders in the BF Auditorium and share general information about VHS.
Teachers will go over high school recommendations with the 8th graders during advisory. Students should bring home their high school recommendations and all of their scheduling materials.
8th Grade Parent Night will be held at VHS at 6 p.m. The first session will meet in the Auditorium -- where administration will present information to all the parents/guardians of next year's incoming 9th graders. The 2nd session is in the VHS cafeteria where parents can speak to department chairpersons, counselors, and program directors regarding your child's schedule or classes of interest.
February 7 and February 9
8th grade students will be completing their freshmen schedules in their math classes.
If parents or students have any questions throughout the high school scheduling process, they are encouraged to contact their child's counselor. Mrs. Cowan for last names A-K, or Mrs. Hofer for last names L-Z.
Have a wonderful holiday!
