School Health Advisory Council Vol. 3, Issue 2 April 2022
During the February 28, 2022 Committee of the Whole meeting, the SCBOE voted to move to Mask Optional in schools and on school transportation. Students who will not be required to wear a mask will have a form on file, signed by the parent stating they are mask optional. Mask Optional began on Thursday, March 3, 2022. SCBOE will continue to vote each month and will use county metrics to determine a mask mandate or optional for students and staff.

SHAC Member Highlight: Darlene MacDonald
Darlene MacDonald is the lead school nurse at Scotland County Health Schools. Below is a note from her as she is this month's SHAC Member Highlight...
"It is with mixed emotions of happiness and sadness I am announcing my retirement as a School Nurse, after 18.5 years and a Registered Nurse of 39 years.
After 39 years of Nursing, I have been very blessed that the last 18.5 years have been spent as a School Nurse with Scotland County Schools. I have assisted students, families and staff to remove the barriers that prevent learning, keeping students healthy and in the classroom ready to learn.
My SCHOOL NURSE FAMILY has made my journey enjoyable. Thank-you for ALL your support and laughter. I will miss my fellow nurses, the staff and most of all, the thousands of students I have worked with over the years.
I now look forward to the next chapter of my life and will reflect on my amazing career @Scotland County Schools."
Graciously,
Darlene MacDonald-School Nurse (Nurse MAC)
