Principal's Update - Mary Quigley
Special Events Day is around the corner and I see that many of our parents are involved. I would invite anyone to stop in on Feb. 29 and take a peek at what the children are doing and the bulletin boards that will be focusing on our theme. The bulletin boards will be up for two weeks so that children, staff and parents can have time to learn good ideas about health, wellness and nutrition.
Enjoy the week ahead!
What is happening in the WAS Library?
Washington Avenue School Library
Lots of exciting things going on in our library – We have started our practice battles for the Battle of the Books in 3rd grade and the pre-school, kindergarten and 1st grades have been learning all about Dr. Seuss and will be ready to celebrate his birthday on March 2nd.
The 2nd grades have been learning all about our classic collection and our biographies – they have been reading up a storm!
Third grade families will receive more information about dates of the battles – this year our winning team will be competing against Southern Boulevard School at the Lafayette Media Center on March 16th at 4pm.
The planetarium will be here in May for an exciting week of lessons, thanks again to the CEF for their most generous addition to our district!
WAS PTO President's UPDATE Michelle Lease
PTO COMMUNITY MEETINGS - this means you!
It has come to our attention that there may have been some confusion regarding the quarterly WAS PTO meetings. We learned that many WAS parents believed these meetings were just for members of the PTO Board, committee chairs, committee volunteers, etc.
This is NOT the case! We apologize if the name of the meeting created confusion, but these meetings are in fact for ALL WAS parents. The meetings provide updates on WAS information as as well as important district information. There are also wonderful guests speakers and an open Q/A format. If you are a WAS parent, this is a meeting for you! You are welcome and encouraged to attend. Going forward we will be referring to our quarterly meetings as PTO Community Meeting. We hope to see you on April 6th at our next meeting!
PTO Thank you's
