MESSAGE FROM RYAN BICKLEY, PRINCIPAL OF BURNETT JUNIOR HIGH
Howdy Bucs-
If you don't think we are the absolute BEST school around, let me tell you MANY reasons why...
Fiddler on the Roof Jr - Did you see the musical?! If you didn't, you missed out! Thank you to Carly King and Jon Reid for an AMAZING show. The students' acting, singing, and dancing showcased a TOP NOTCH performance!
Band - The Buccaneer Band has 33 students in the All-City Band (the most ever!), and we are so proud of their hard work! Great performances like theirs don't happen without hard work, dedication, and support from families!! See below for even more amazing results!
Choir - In the Wylie ISD Solo Festival on November 12th, 64 Burnett Choir members received a 1 (Superior) rating, and 14 were chosen as Wow Soloists (the top soloists in their rooms). This is up from 39 Superior Ratings and 10 Wow Soloists in 2018. We are proud of our growing program!
7th A Team Football - Finished the season with a PERFECT undefeated record! Way to go boys!
Basketball - We had 7th A Team boys, 8th B team tying and A Team with a big win last night! Our UNDEFEATED 7th grade A and B team girls from last season started strong last night and are STILL UNDEFEATED with C Team picking up a win as well! Come watch some basketball, it is SUPER exciting!
Burnett PTA: Burnett was named Secondary Program of the Month for the district thanks to the amazing work of our PTA. They have done so many great events this month - Trunk or Treat, Howdy Dance, In and Out Burger Tailgate, and SO much more!! And a huge shout out to Mendie Triguero who was named Volunteer of the Month! Way to go Mendie!
Grant Winner: WOOHOO!!! Way to go Paige Walton!!! Grant funding for our junior high online SORA/Overdrive ebook & audiobook systems! Books for Burnett, Cooper, and McMillan! #teamwork #wylieisdlibs #OurWylieISDEF Thank you to the Wylie Education Foundation!
Canned Food Drive - Thank you for your donations! The students brought 3,888 cans which will help feed several local families. Our Burnett staff then donated $1,310 to purchase any other needs. So blessed to work with these amazing students and staff.
I wanted to thank you for dealing with all the free dress days and running out to get canned foods. I know this can feel like a burden at times (amazing how much kids love free dress), but our efforts have fed SO many LOCAL families and stocked their pantries. The students and families of Burnett should be so proud of all you have done for the community. The wonderful thing about the Christian Care Center and Wylie ISD working hand in hand is we donate the food to our students and families in the district. So know, you made a difference to a student who shares classes, lunch, athletics, etc... with your child.
It is so easy to be the Principal at Burnett because I get to walk all over the community, into other schools, any store and I BEAM with pride... look at all the AMAZING things our Buccaneers are doing!
One blessed lady!
Enjoy the weekend! One week until Thanksgiving!
Ryan

A Message from Ms. Walton - Librarian
Bucs –
Over the past few weeks Burnett students have received online training from Ms. Walton in the library regarding SORA/Overdrive, Wylie’s new eBook & audiobook checkout system.
Students now have the ability to check out digital books from the local public library when they sync their public and Wylie ISD accounts. We are very excited to help them access many more reading choices and hope that you will assist in linking this information at home with your public library card numbers.
Students were given instructions in class and received an informational flyer. Flyer information can be accessed by students when they use their Google accounts and proceed to the eBook/Audio book access button on the Library Orientation page of the BJHS Google site: (https://sites.google.com/a/apps.wylieisd.net/pwalton/library-orientation ).
Here is a link to our library resources for junior high and the SORA app is located in the eBooks section: https://www.wylieisd.net/Page/8748
If you have additional questions or need assistance, feel free to email Ms. Walton and she will get back to you as quickly as possible.
