St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 2 | 28 July 2023

Afternoon all,
I hope everyone has had a good week. We have been running in and out of the weather this week, however, it has been a lot of fun with plenty of engaging learning in our classrooms!
Thanks to all the Year 6 parents who attended our Confirmation workshop this week. I was speaking to Father G this week and he said that he had a great time visiting 6 Red and that the students were excited, and a little nervous about their special day. This collaboration between home, school and parish gives us the best opportunity to prepare our students and make them feel comfortable for the next step in their faith journey.
Over the past 24 months, we have been upskilling and working together to create a Wellbeing Plan and Behaviour Engagement Plan to support our students using the 123 Magic Program and improve the consistency in our decision making. These have been discussed at P&F Meetings and we will continue to run Parent Info Sessions at the start of the year support parents in keeping that consistency at home. The new procedures are below.
Finally, a reminder to parents that as per our Healthy Eating Procedures, we respectfully ask that parents do not bring ‘fast food’ into school for their children please. I understand (and as a parent I have been there) that we can be rushed or can accidentally forget to buy the bread for lunches in the morning. We only ask that when you need to buy their lunch externally, you chose a healthy option like a roll, sandwich or sushi rather than MacDonalds or KFC.
Have a great weekend!

Mobile Phones and Smart Watches at School
We would like to remind everyone about the use of smart watches at school. Despite being a distraction to students, smart watches pose the same concerns as mobile phones in terms of safeguarding those in the school community.
The use of smart watches that have the ability to either make or receive calls, connect to the internet or have camera or audio facilities are not permitted to be worn by students at St Bernadette’s during school hours. This includes watches with school mode functions.
Students wearing smart watches of this kind will be asked to leave their watch at the front office, just as we request for mobile phones. These can be collected at the end of the school day. Where parents or guardians need to contact students during the day, they should phone the school directly. We thank you in advance for your understanding and for having this conversation with your children.
Leaving St Bernadette's?

To assist us with planning for next year, could you please advise the office if your child is not returning to Bernie's next year.
Families are obliged to provide at least one term’s notice in writing of their intention to remove a child from the school, otherwise a full term’s fees may be charged.
For children leaving the school, please indicate which school they will be attending next year.
Uniform Reminders
- A reminder that all uniform items are required to be embroided with St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School. This can be done at Hot Klobba at a cost of approximately $7.00 for a few items and $10.00 for a single piece of uniform.
- Please also ensure ALL uniform items are labelled - our lost property is FULL of items that are not named.
- We are not accepting any old uniform donations (jumpers, dresses, tracksuit pants and items that are not embroided). All items that are not embroided and do not have our school logo on them can be donated to the Good Sammy's. Old branded items should be recycled through H&M in Mandurah.
