CCA Sponsor a Family - Due by December 2
It's the annual CCA Sponsor a Family time of the year. Over the years, CCA High School Student Council has successfully helped hundreds of families during the holiday season and the school counselors have also provided for our families needing assistance. How it works: families are identified privately and the information they provide drives the overall goal of the program and needs to fulfill. This year we have combined the donation information into one form that covers all grade levels. All our attendance centers are working together and collectively to assist our families. All financial donations collected for Sponsor a Family are spent on the families for this project.
If you are able to sponsor a family this holiday season please fill out the form no later than Friday, December 2.

Mental Health Matters: Brought to you by the CCA School Therapists
Are you noticing a shift in your mood and motivation? People may start to feel “down” when the days get shorter in the fall and winter and begin to feel better in the spring, with longer daylight hours. Don't brush off that yearly feeling as simply a case of the "winter blues" or a seasonal funk that you have to tough out on your own. Take steps to keep your mood and motivation steady throughout the year. Some things that could improve your mood may include: prioritizing social activities, using essential oils (like bergamot, cardamom, cedarwood, peppermint, and citrus oils), maintaining a consistent schedule, getting exercise, and making sure you get plenty of sunlight.
Holidays are approaching. Here are some tips on managing holiday related stress.
Gratitude Jar
The gratitude jar is a simple exercise that can have profound effects on you and your family’s well-being and outlook. It only requires a few supplies: a jar (a box can also work); ribbon, stickers, glitter, or whatever else you like to decorate the jar; paper and a pen or pencil for writing your gratitude notes; and gratitude!
Step 1: Find a jar or box.
Step 2: Decorate the jar however you wish. You can tie a ribbon around the jar’s neck, put stickers on the sides, use clear glue and glitter to make it sparkle, paint it, keep it simple, or do whatever else you can think of to make it a pleasing sight.
Step 3: This is the most important step, which will be repeated every day. As a family, think of at least three things throughout your day that you are grateful for. It can be something as simple as a coffee at your favorite place, or as grand as the love you have for another person. Do this every day, write down what you are grateful for on little slips of paper and fill the jar.
Over time, you will find that you have a jar full of many reasons to be thankful for what you have and enjoy the life you are living. It also will promote a practice of expressing gratitude.
If you are ever feeling especially down and need a quick pick-me-up, take a few notes out of the jar to remind yourself of who and what is good in your life.
