Hybrid Model Update
The district met with staff from the Snohomish County Health District on Tuesday. The metrics continue to trend downward. Additionally, they shared community specific information. The Stanwood numbers are looking especially promising, so the district is proceeding with plans to begin in-person instruction for Kindergarten through grade 3 students in the hybrid model beginning Monday, October 5th.
Every student in grades 1 - 5 moving into the hybrid model will receive a notice confirming their placement on Monday, September 28. Those students who have opted for Continuous Learning 2.0 will be notified of their teacher placement by Wednesday, September 30.
Kindergarten
Beginning October 1, in person kindergarten students who have been meeting as small groups of 5 will blend with the other group of 5 to form a group up to 10 students working with the classroom teacher. NOTE: Kindergarten on 10/1 and 10/2 will still be 9:00-11:30.
On Monday, October 5th, in person kindergarten students will transition to full days from 9:00-3:30 in the hybrid model AA/BB.
Grade 1 - Grade 3
Hybrid teacher placement and AA (Monday / Tuesday) or BB (Thursday / Friday) assignments are going to be communicated to you by School Messenger by Monday evening.
If you do not receive this communication on Monday, please call your school’s office for the information on Tuesday.
A reminder that in some cases teachers have transferred to different assignments and/or buildings so this may mean a different teacher for your child than the current assignment. We have tried as much as possible to minimize these changes.
Students in grades 1-3 who are opting for Continuous Learning will be assigned a new teacher by Wednesday, September 30.
Grade 4 - Grade 5
The hybrid students in grades 4 and 5 who have been assigned a new teacher will be notified of their new teacher by Monday evening using the School Messenger system.
On Monday, October 5th, any student in grades 4 or 5 who has been assigned a new teacher will begin working with that teacher.
All students in grades 4 and 5 will continue in distance learning until October 26.
A reminder that in some cases teachers have been transferred to different responsibilities and so this may mean a different teacher for your child than the current assignment. We have tried as much as possible to minimize these changes.
Students in grades 4-5 who are opting for Continuous Learning will be assigned a new teacher by Wednesday, September 30.

Counselor Corner with Mrs. Schwarze
This week we will wrap up our focus on kindness, but we will carry all we have learned about kindness into the work we do the rest of our year. October will focus on the character trait of courage, so be sure to stay tuned for more information about this trait and how it connects to what we now know about the power of kindness.
Take some time this week to reflect as a family about what you have learned this month. What was hard? What was unexpected? What was great? What do you need to make October go more smoothly? Where does kindness fit into that plan? When you are done debriefing, take time to complement each other with kind words of encouragement.
Look for new Counselor Corner slide decks this week in your Google Classroom or on Seesaw. I have included fun activities this week to show yourselves some kindness. Check them out!
Take care Tigers! We are all in this together.
PTA Membership Drive
In September our TCE PTA paid for every student to have a basic set of school supplies at home. They are sponsoring a virtual assembly on September 30 and already have an assembly booked for October. In addition, our PTA will be providing a no contact Halloween celebration for students as well.
The $12 fee helps support programs and opportunities for your child. Please consider joining today! Every member will receive a Tiger Pride car magnet and be entered to win prizes.
