From the Principal's Office
Dear Braintree Families,
We had a full week at Braintree Elementary School! October is Bat Appreciation Month and Apple Month. Students are learning about bats and animal adaptations to appreciate animal diversity. We have some fun fall events planned to enjoy our Farm to School program harvest along with apples and apple cider.
Next week is a short week. Students are off from school Monday through Wednesday. We encourage you to do something with your children to recognize Indigenous Peoples Day. Two resources I recommend include Native Knowledge 360 from the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian, and the Native American Heritage Collection from PBS.
Parent Teacher Conferences are on Wednesday, 10/13. If you want to meet with teachers beyond your classroom teacher, please reach out to them to schedule a time. I have included a staff list below. Academics are in full swing and students are engaging in Math, Science, and Literacy every day. We look forward to meeting with you and talking about academic progress.
Our Farm to School program is thriving! We have purchased some new things with grant money and are seeking volunteer help. Contact Farmer Misse for more information about upcoming projects. We are excited to host a Family Pumpkin Carving night on Wednesday, October 27th and hope you will join us.
Make it a great weekend,
Heather Lawler

Farm to School Update from Farmer Misse
Hello Braintree Elementary School Families,
It takes a village to grow a school garden. We are very grateful for several funding resources that have enabled us to purchase many new items to help us grow more and cook more. We could use some help from some volunteers over the next month. If there is something that you would find joy in helping with, please sign up here.
