Big picture

Good Afternoon Families and Staff,

Happy Friday!!! We have had an interesting past seven days. I know that some of you may still either be without power or the internet, however, I hope that each of you and your families are healthy and safe. As you have heard me say before, I absolutely love our community and how it comes together in times of struggle. We saw it last spring when the virus hit and we had to shift to online learning. We saw it this past September with the fires and the effect it has had on our beautiful Santiam Canyon area. Now with the ice storm and how people have come together to help clean up around our entire community. There is still a great deal of clean up to be accomplished, but I just love seeing everyone come together.

We are still moving forward with our March 1, 2021 shift to hybrid. Our staff is tirelessly working on planning and communicating with your students. It is imperative that you and your students are aware of the schedule over the next few weeks.

Big picture

Starting next Monday, Feb. 22, your student’s teachers will be going over your student’s schedule repeatedly in order for them to understand the transition to our hybrid schedule. We will be teaching our middle school students their new schedule during their advisory time. As a staff, we will be working the first part of next week to get individual students and families their schedules.

We sent out notification this morning to parents of 7th and 8th grade cohorts as well as communication to those families confirming they have opted out of the hybrid in-person instruction.

I want everyone to know that I appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to strive to get students back into our buildings. I know this has been a long process, one in which guidance has been provided by the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority. Your student's safety is our number one priority. We can do this and do it the right way. I’m confident in that.
