From the Principal
M.M.S. Parents and Guardians,
Good afternoon! The teachers and office staff are putting the final touches on the planning to begin the year. Knowing the first day of school is right around the corner (Monday, August 29, 2022), I wanted to share some of the same information that I had sent you last week to ensure we have a smooth start to the school year.
Please be sure to remind your child that all students will be reporting directly to homeroom each morning this year. They will each be receiving a copy of their schedule on the first day in homeroom.
I ask you to take a look at each of the items below and please do not hesitate to reach out to your grade level counselor or administrator with any questions. We are here to support you and your child.

Beginning this year, the necessary school supplies your child will need have been purchased by the District with the exception of a calculator and book bag. All students will receive their school supplies on the first day of school. Please make sure that your child comes to school with a book bag and calculator. Please read the grade level welcome letters.

- Student Emergency forms must be filled out EVERY year for each student. Please complete this task before August 29th.

FOOD SERVICE INFORMATION
Food Service Information
Meals are no longer free for all students. The following are the meal prices for the 2022/2023 school year:
- Student breakfast $1.80
- Reduced price student breakfast $.30
- Elementary student lunch $2.65
- Secondary student lunch $2.90
- Reduced price student lunch $.40
- Adult lunch $4.10
- Milk $.60
Lunch meal choices: (all meals include fruit, vegetable and milk)
- Regular Lunch - Hot meal of the day
- Deli Lunch - sandwich of the week
- Go-Yo Lunch - yogurt, string cheese, corn chips
- Wildcat Lunch - peanut butter and jelly sandwich
Need to add money to your child's meal account? Sign up or log into the My School Bucks account HERE
- checks made payable to MASD Food Service or cash is also accepted.
- Place in an envelope with your child's name, "meal account" and the amount enclosed. The student should turn the envelope into their teacher first thing in the morning.
Federal waivers for free meals for all students have expired. Household applications for free
or reduced price meals will be required to determine free and reduced eligibility for the
2022/2023 school year unless a student is directly certified. Detailed information regarding qualifications will be sent home the first week of school.

Transportation
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
- Please be reminded that students will not be permitted to enter the building prior to 8:10 a.m. Students choosing to purchase breakfast will follow a “grab and go” procedure. All students will be reporting directly to their homeroom (School starts at 8:30 a.m. – Tardy bell).
- Please refer to the website for bus transportation listing.
- PM parent pick up will begin at 3:20 p.m. Please continue to follow the traffic patterns to maintain the highest level of safety for our kids.
AM PARENT DROP OFF & PM PICK UP PROCEDURES
In an effort to accommodate an anticipated large number of vehicles, the following drop-off and pick-up traffic patterns have been created.
Group A Car Riders (Last Name A-L):
Will enter from the North Entrance “A”.
Will follow the map below.
- Please note – school vans will also be using this entrance – please bear left, as the vans will pass on the right to proceed around the building.
- Cars are reminded to pull all the way to the end of the unloading/loading area at the stop sign.
Group B Car Riders (Last Name M-Z):
Will enter from the South Entrance “B”.
Will follow the current drop-off/pick-up procedures.
- Cars are reminded to pull all the way to the end of the unloading/loading area.

DISTRICT CALENDAR
Emergency Drills - General Information
MASD schools practice secure in place and/or lockdown procedures when conducting a security drill. Schools are required to conduct one emergency drill within the first 90 calendar days of the school year in place of a fire drill and a second security drill during the second semester.
MMS will be conducting emergency drills following these guidelines. If you have specific questions about these drills, please consult the student handbook.
