Advent Service Project
Each grade is adopting a family in need through the Mrs. Claus Club! This is a great opportunity to teach about helping others during a season that tends to be more about receiving than giving. Each teacher will be sending out the wish list and instructions for their assigned family. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
Advent Reflections
First Sunday of Advent: The Hope Candle
Pray: Jesus, help us get ready for your birth. Help us to see past the shiny decorations all around us and to remember we are waiting for you. Amen.
Act: One way to get ready for Jesus is to make an Advent resolution. What can everyone in your family give to Jesus? Is there a person you can be nice to throughout Advent? Think of something you can do to prepare.
Second Sunday of Advent: The Peace Candle
Pray: Jesus, guide us to see the ways we need to repent and believe to be ready for your arrival this Christmas. Amen.
Act: How are you doing with your Advent resolution? Promise yourself to continue working on it. Ask for help from Christ.Third Sunday of Advent: The Joy Candle (12/11)
Pray: Jesus, we love you and want to be like you in our words and deeds. Help us this week to show love to the people around you. Amen.
Act: Advent will soon be over. Are you still working on your Advent resolutions? Don’t give up! The pink candle represents the joy of the impending Christmas season; use that joy to do good for others.
Fourth Sunday of Advent: The Love Candle (12/18)
Pray: Jesus, we’re so close. Help us remember that we have important work to do before we reach Christmas, and help us remember to ask your mother, Mary for help when we need it. Amen.
Act: This is the last week of Advent; If you’re struggling with your Advent resolution, remember to ask Jesus, Mary to help you to Christmas Day. Remember the true meaning of Christmas; it represents the love of God for humanity and the fulfillment of his saving mission.
