What is FAKE NEWS?
A new display at the library helps highlight how we as news consumers can determine what is fake from what is real. Some tips include: Consider the Source; Check the Author; Check the Date; Check your Biases; Ask the Experts; Supporting Sources; and Read Beyond. These sage tips serve students well for research and for general information.
Parent Meetings @ the Library
After school many meetings are held at the library lecture hall. This past week the following meetings were held after school: Tuesday-8th grade parent informational meeting; Wednesday-Health Science Informational Mandatory Make-up Parent Meeting; Thursday-Mandatory Cheer Tryout Parent Meeting. On Monday, February 5th we'll be hosting a general parent meeting for any SHS parent. Visit the library and learn! Mrs. Cruz works with Mr. Segura and the admin team to host the Rattler Parent Connect Meetings.
SISD Librarians Participate in National Standards Workshop

Mrs. Cruz has been invited by 5 teachers to visit their classroom on February 1st to read aloud to their students. "I love investigating ways to bring literature into the curriculum. I have a passion for all things -books and knowledge." She'll be sharing some favorite stories on February 1st.
Do you have talented poets in your class?
Encourage the next William Shakespeare or Elizabeth Barrett Browning to enter the local Called to Rise Poetry submission. Your students can become published authors in this local collection. The theme is "Hope and Healing." Please share this information and encourage your students to participate.
