Sharpen the Saw

It is so fitting that this month is Habit 7! This is all about balance. I know that as testing season nears, tension and stress grow. But right now, I don't want you thinking about that. I want you to do something for you! Get a massage, take a nap, sleep in...on the weekend :), read a book for fun, eat more veggies...and dessert! Haha! Take care of you.

Dress Code

As I'm sure you are aware, we have really been working to "crack down" on dress code violations. We know that this can be frustrating for parents when you get a phone call first thing in the morning so we ask that you pay close attention to what your child puts on before they leave the house. A few specific reminders:
Shirt- TLCA blue polo
Pants, shorts, skorts- Desert sand Khaki (cannot have rips or tears)
3rd-9th grade BOYS- Must have shirts tucked in and wear a belt!
Shoes: MOSTLY blue, black, white, brown, or grey

Backpacks: CLEAR or MESH ONLY

Below are pictures that are out of dress code

Restorative Discipline

Watch this! This is the direction we are wanting to head in the discipline world. We have already done a few circles with some of our students and have seen success. We would love to host parent nights for this as well.

Staff Spotlight

Meet Dianne Cockrill- Guidance Counselor

I have been in education for 26 years and recently moved from Terrell Texas back to Arlington to be closer to my parents. I have been a school counselor for 19 years. I am really enjoying my role in encouraging all children to strive for their personal best. I am thrilled to be working with the students, teachers, administrators, and parents of TLCA.

I thoroughly enjoy gardening, cooking, and am a avid reader. I am currently reading “The Hate You Give” and can’t seem to put it down. I have one son who is nine and we both love Vietnamese food. I have three cats but have an entire farm if I could.

Meet Christopher Gannaway- 7th-9th English Teacher

My name is Chris Gannaway. I am a 1999 graduate of Baylor University, where I majored in Elementary Education and specialized in Reading. I am in my 18th year of teaching. I have just been hired on as the new head football coach and secondary English teacher. I have one son Hayden who is almost 14 years old. I am engaged to my lovely girlfriend Carole and will be married in June. I am excited to be an Eagle!
