Weekly Updates from Mrs. Lynch
Your JSA family is here for you in these unprecedented times, as we always are. We know there are many emotions with this prolonged school closure for our children, our families and our staff. Please rest assured, the Governor has waived these days of school. so they do not need to be made up. Students will progress to the next grade and our teachers will ensure that we meet students where they are at when we come back together.
We recognize that we have to consider how to do things differently, but know that we will always try to do our best by you and your children. We are here to help and support you - please let us know what you may need. We miss our JSA family more than words can say. Be safe and be well!
Weekly Communication: A JSA staff member will be in touch with you on a weekly basis and I will be sending out weekly updates. We are here for you, so please let us know what you need and what the best way is to communicate with you. Teachers and support staff have been working hard to ensure we are here to support you, not overwhelm you.
Staff Office Hours: Staff members will be communicating their 'office hours' through multiple methods: e-mail, telephone, text, SeeSaw to support your student in learning. These office hours can also be found below. Our district's Continuous Learning Plan allows our staff to support and extend the voluntary learning options that are being provided.
5th Grade Families: We could never have imagined that our time with your amazing children would be cut short in this way. We have treasured our time with them and want them to know that. Please know that we are working on an alternate plan to celebrate this important milestone in their lives as they move on to middle school. We will be communicating this plan soon. In addition, please be looking for information from your child's middle school about transition plans and choosing their music class. This communication will be going out on May 1st.
Picking up Student Items / Supplies: This is dependent on guidance from our state and the Department of Public Health. More information to come about this. The District will be working on a plan to communicate with buildings to ensure we can do this in a safe manner. Once this plan has been communicated from the District level, I will let you know what that will look like at JSA. If your child has something at school, that is a critical need for you, please let a JSA staff member know and we will try to locate it and will make arrangements for you to retrieve it.
Family and Community Supports: We recognize that with COVID-19 has come many stressors for families. Please know that we are here to support you in any way that you can. Please check out this link to the District site for available Family Supports and Resources in our community.
Educational Opportunities: These can be accessed in a variety of ways, either at the District Site created especially for the COVID19 school closure, mailed to your home if you selected that option, or through pick-up at any of the food distribution sites. Please remember, any learning opportunities we provide are voluntary and not intended to add more stress during a very troubling time. In addition, JSA staff have been reaching out to support your family and students as best we can in these unusual times.
