Desert

How do plants survive in the Desert ?
Cacti are often thought of as a stereotypical desert plant, but they are rarely the dominant species in an area of desert. To survive, desert plants have adapted to the extremes of heat and aridity by using both physical and behavioral mechanisms, much like desert animals. Plants that have adapted by altering their physical structure are called xerophytes.Xerophytes, such as cacti, usually have special means of storing and conserving water. They often have few or no leaves, which reduces transpiration.
Tundra
How can they survive in the Tundra ?
Most of the plants are small, grow close together and close to the ground. This protects them from the cold temperatures and the strong winds. Some flowering plants have fuzzy coverings on the stems, leaves and buds to provide protection from the wind. Some have woolly seed covers. Some plants have cup-shaped flowers that face up to the sun, so the sun's rays are directed towards the centre of the flower. These plants stay warmer than the air around them
