Students will then walk along the island to the crossing guard.
All Student who cross Central Road, must cross with Miss Kathy, the crossing guard.
Walker will enter in Door 4. Students that ride the bus will enter at Door 1.

Safety Drills for 2022-2023
Safety comes first! Staff and students will participate in several safety drills this year. When discussing school safety and practice drills, staff have been trained to approach each one with calmness and care coupled with the use of kid-friendly verbiage. Practice drills will communicated out in a timely fashion. Schools are required by Illinois School Code to conduct the following drills:
*Three evacuation drills. One of the three evacuation drills must be supervised by the fire department.
*One bus evacuation drill.
*One severe weather/shelter-in-place drill.
* Two law enforcement (lockdown) drills. One of these two law enforcement drills must be a staff initiated lock-down.
*Relocation Drill-our relocation site will be Conyers Learning Academy (CLA)
We plan to hold a fire drill this month while the weather remains favorable. We too will hold our first lock-down drill on Monday, September 12th.
Please also take a moment to review some updated information regarding lockdown information related to House Bill 2400 (The School Safety Drill Act) Lockdown Opt-Out.
Report Card Updates for 2022-2023
1=DEVELOPING: The student begins to understand concepts, but requires teacher assistance
2=PROGRESSING: The student develops an understanding of concepts to complete tasks and often works independently.
3=MASTERY: The student demonstrates a thorough knowledge of concept and is applying knowledge in novel situations.
Emphasizes specific skills and concepts, rather than assigning one overall grade in a subject
Shows the student’s performance level on essential standards over time
Separates social skills and work habits from academic grades; these two areas are reported separately to allow for a more accurate reporting of a student’s actual performance level on each standard
Creates consistency and continuity in assessing student performance among teachers within and across buildings in the district
More information to come as we get closer to Report Card in November
NEW Science for Grade 6
Our 6th grade school science materials are phenomenon-based, three-dimensional units that prioritize student coherence and equitable science sensemaking. The units are developed with teacher and student voices from across the country informing the selection of the phenomena and the storyline of the unit. Throughout our units, students develop their ability to solve problems, ask and answer questions, and argue from evidence.
