Welcome To Our 2018-19 School Year

Havel Elementary

Welcome!

On behalf of the entire Havel Staff, I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! We look forward to working together to help our students meet the challenges they will face as they live and work in the 21st century. The Havel Elementary Staff has been extremely busy this summer, not only with routine procedures, but also preparing for the many new faces we will welcome to our family this year. During the summer we received a kitchen upgrade and a few other small building touch-ups. Needless to say it was a busy summer!

Classroom Sneak Peek

The school will be open for a classroom “sneak peek” from 4:00-5:00 p.m. on August 29th. I hope to see you there, as this will allow students the chance to become acquainted with the school and classrooms so that their first day of the new school year will run smoothly. Our Havel Volunteer League is hosting a Snow Cone Social on this day also. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Big picture

Classroom Notifications

This year, we will communicate grade level classroom assignments for your child in a convenient and secure manner. We will be emailing the classroom assignments to you directly using the e-mail addresses on file in PowerSchool on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Your child’s assignment can also be viewed via the PowerSchool Parent Portal that will be available beginning Wednesday, August 29, 2018. If you do not receive an email or are unable to access the information through the Parent Portal by the end of the day on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, please contact our office at 586-797-5200.

Security Protocol

Havel Families:

We are asking for your assistance to ensure that our security procedures during the school day are effective. As many of you know, our school has a security camera, intercom, and buzzer at the front entrance for use during the school day. To help us assist you when you would like to enter the school:

1. Please press the buzzer to speak with someone in the office

2. You will be asked to state your name and reason for visiting

3. You will be asked to show your photo ID into the security camera above the outside door

4. Office staff will then be able to buzz you inside

5. All visitors must immediately register in the office

In addition, we are asking you to not let any visitors in the door as you enter (and they come up behind you) or as you exit the building.

The teachers and staff are committed to student safety and security and we would like to thank you for your assistance in helping keep the students of Havel safe.
