Unlike enrollment for K-12, seats are limited in the pre-kindergarten program. The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) requires that the Pre-K program be made available to students who meet automatic eligibility criteria based on educational or financial need. If space is available once the automatically eligible students have registered, other students may be placed from the applicant pool on a priority basis.
Automatic Enrollment Criteria
Automatic eligibility for a prekindergarten program will occur when a child meets the age of entry guidelines and meets at least one of the following criteria:
- Is from an economically disadvantaged background (i.e., eligible for free or reduced-price school meal program as established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture).
- Is homeless.
- Has been identified through the IEP team process with the development of an IEP as requiring special education classroom instruction within a general education setting.
Additional Enrollment
Children who do not meet the automatic criteria for eligibility will be considered for enrollment based upon availability of space and prioritized criteria.
- Parents/guardians of students not meeting automatic criteria will be notified between August 15 and September 13 regarding space availability.
If you are unable to make the pre-kindergarten round-up event, please call the front office (443.809.4134 ) to schedule an individual registration appointment.

From the PTO - Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is the first week in May and the PTO has a week filled with ways to show our love and appreciation for the MCES teachers and staff. We don't want to give away all our plans just yet but we do need volunteers to help.

Want to help students make cards for their teacher? Kristen Johnston needs some volunteers to help students. Sign up here. TAW Volunteer Signup
If you are able to help set up or clean lunch on Thursday or Friday please email to let us know at mayschapelpto@gmail.com. Set up would be after arrival and clean up prior to dismissal. You know you want to get in the car loop line early!
The fall book fair and family picnic was a such a big hit we are bringing it back this spring. Everyone has busy schedules so there will be three chances to buy books and hang out with friends. Books, dinner & friends!
Use your B1G1 to stock up on summer reading, help stock a teacher's classroom or donate the extra book to the school library to replenish books lost during virtual learning. Teacher wish lists will be available at the event.
Make it a night out with classmates for a picnic!
