Giving Kids an Inside look at Surgery
Careers After School Program Prepares Students with Surgical Precision.
30 middle and high school students got a rare glimpse of what it takes to prepare for and conduct surgical procedures during the Careers After School (CAS) event at Central Washington Hospital. The Wenatchee Valley Chamber's CAS series gives students an inside look at careers in the valley and exclusive access to places not seen by the general public. During this unique CAS event, Confluence Health nurses, technicians and surgeons created life-like simulations in instrument prep, orthopedic surgery, personal protective equipment, and laparoscopic procedures using robotics. We're listening: School board continues community conversations

Orchard Middle School Language Arts & AVID Teacher
Orchard Middle School 7th-graders and Washington Elementary 1st-graders made new friends and new memories by sharing their writing with each other. 7th graders walked to the elementary school on Friday, October 25 and read original memoirs aloud to 1st-grade partners. Memories they shared included tragic pet stories, favorite vacations, first days of schools, and best summer days. The middle schoolers then listened to the 1st-graders as they read writing about what they want to be when they grow up. It was the second year both schools participated in this cross-age tutor experience.
