KERBY NEWSLETTER
November 20, 2020
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Next week is Thanksgiving, a celebration to acknowledge the many wonderful gifts we have in our lives. There are so many things for which I am thankful. For me this year I am extremely grateful for the Kerby staff, students and families. It is the combination of the three which makes Kerby such a special place. I am so thankful!
May your Thanksgiving be filled with much joy and happiness! Please be safe and stay healthy!
In-Person Learning on Hold
Based on current health data, students in GP Traditional will not be pivoting back to face to face learning next week (Monday and Tuesday, 11/23-24). The earliest we may return to hybrid instruction is November 30. The district will again be focused on having our most at-risk and youngest learners return first. GPPSS will give parents and staff as much notice as possible, and will let everyone know as soon as they hear more from the Wayne County Health Department.
COVID TRACKING
This makes a difference for when we return to face to face instruction.

FAQ
Q: How are kids getting music instruction?
Two parts: 1. Mrs. Magill Video Lessons on Schoology (the “meat” of the lesson!)
2. Optional Live Music Enrichment Times (enrichment of the lesson on Schoology)
Q: How do I find the video lessons?
One of your child’s Schoology courses is “Vocal Music.” You may need to cursor down to the bottom of the list of courses to find it. If you are having trouble finding the lessons, please contact me at magillm@gpschools.org. I would be very happy to help!
Q: Are the kids required to go to the Live Zoom Enrichment Times?
The Live Zoom Enrichment Times are optional. We don’t want kids to feel pressured to come. We are here for them when they are able to join us. On days when too much screen time is a concern, please make the Schoology video lesson the priority as that is where the most curriculum is being delivered.
Here is what we have been learning
in our Schoology Videos and Live Zoom Enrichment times!

SCHOOLOGY
For parents/guardians, Schoology provides a one-stop place to keep track of a child’s calendar, projects, assignments, and day-to-day activities. Parents are able to see what their children are working on as well as view their children’s grades and learning activities within the platform through a Schoology parent account. GPPSS greatly values parent participation in their children’s education and we encourage all parents to utilize the features of Schoology to support the educational growth and development of their children.
Parent account and login information is the Parent’s email address and MiStar Password. If you have trouble logging in or have any questions, please review the support materials below.
