Spring Survey
Even though the last half of the school year has shown itself to be challenging in more ways than one, the board and staff at Brevard Academy has maintained its position to provide and support each student on their academic journey and growth.
In order to stay true to the mission and vision of Brevard Academy, we depend strongly on the support and feedback from our families and community.
We ask that you please take a few moments to complete the Spring Family Survey. This provides valuable information to school leaders on ways to improve, on things that are working, and on creative ideas from around the community.
We thank you for all of your support.

Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming Up
This May, Teacher Appreciation Week is definitely going to look a little different. There won’t be any snack carts or staff luncheons, but with a little creativity, you can still make those hard-working teachers feel special. Teacher Appreciation week runs from Monday, May 4th through Friday, May 8th so here are a few ideas to help get those creative juices flowing:
- Gift cards: There are plenty of gift cards you can send via email, including teacher favorites like Target and Starbucks (they currently have three fun teacher designs). This is also a good time to support local restaurants that are hurting and grab gift cards to your staff’s favorite places for takeout.
A Personal Message: Heartfelt messages are probably the most important part of teacher appreciation. Google Docs and Padlet are nice ways to work collaboratively on a project with kids and parents, or just solicit ideas that you can then turn into your own presentation then email it! Below we have included a sample schedule of ways to virtually send your thanks to your teachers.
Video Message: You don’t have to spend a lot of money to give teachers something special. Kids crafts are a great place to start! Who doesn’t love a sweet memento like a video or slide show presentation?
DIY Kids Crafts: Here are 27 kid approved DIY art projects that will not only engage your children but would make excellent teacher gifts!
Since social distancing is still an active part of everyday life, below you will find daily suggestions on ways to celebrate social distancing while letting your teacher know how much you appreciate them.
MONDAY MAY 4TH:
- Share your favorite photos with Teachers and Staff on your school’s social media (and your own!) and don't forget to use #ThankATeacher and #ILoveBA
- Today’s Special Message: Use this My Favorite Thing About My Teacher template to share what you love about your teacher. Click here for a digital version you can edit in Google Slides.
TUESDAY MAY 5TH:
- Record a video message or write a letter to your teacher! You can email it directly to them, upload to your digital classroom, or share a photo on your school’s social media.
- Today’s Special Message: Use this You Taught Me template to share something special that you learned from your teacher. Click here for a digital version you can edit in Google Slides.
WEDNESDAY MAY 6TH:
- Dress up like your favorite teacher or staff member! Share a photo on your school’s social media.
- Today’s Special Message: Use this Making You Proud template to share a special moment when you knew you made your teacher proud. Click here for a digital version you can edit in Google Slides.
THURSDAY MAY 7TH:
- Give your teacher something special! Students can draw a picture, write a poem, sing a song — the sky is the limit! Share a photo or video on your school’s social media or email it to ebrewton@brevardacademy.school
- Today’s Special Message: Use this Favorite Memory template to share your favorite memory from your class this year. Click here for a digital version you can edit in Google Slides.
FRIDAY MAY 8TH:
- Decorate your neighborhood for the teachers and staff so they can feel the love as they visit the school. Use sidewalk chalk to leave messages on driveways and sidewalks, create fun signs and put them in your yard for when they drive by — anything is possible! Share a photo or video on your school’s social media.
- Today’s Special Message: Use this What I’ll Miss template to share what you will miss most about your teacher. Click here for a digital version you can edit in Google Slides
Please email submissions directly to your teacher or if you would like your message to be put on our social media platform, email to ebrewton@brevardacademy.school.
Community Information Database
In an attempt to consolidate local, currently functioning resources and connect individuals and families to these resources with minimal duplication, Transylvania County Library will be used as a temporary referral hub. Beginning Monday, April 13th and running through May 15th, with the possibility of extension if deemed necessary, the library staff will take calls for resources and refer them to our agencies, churches, businesses, etc.
Please check out the Resource Directory HERE or call them at 828-884-3151 for more information.
Send Us Your Photos
We love to see all our students smiling faces and we sure do miss each and every one of them! Share with us some of the ways your children are staying active, working on projects, maybe a cool place they have found to read. Send pictures to our Facebook page or to ebrewton@brevardacademy.school. We will share photos and videos on social media.
All photo submissions will be entered into a drawing for a Family Jet's Pizza Party. Winners will be announced weekly at our Friday Assembly.

Whole School Zoom Assembly
Look for an email on Friday morning with information about how to log in and participate in our Distance Whole School Assembly.
We still ran into some issues this past week and are working diligently to get the glitches fixed so that all our Bulldogs can participate!
1) Since there will be a lot more students than last time, we will be controlling the Mute/Unmute feature. This allows the speaker to be heard by all.
2) If you are a multi-student household, please be sure your family attends the whole school assembly via one device.
We will recite the pledge and our Code of Behavior. We will then sing the school song and of course, wrap the assembly with a whole school dance party. We hope to see you there!
Log in information will be emailed out every Friday at 8:30 am.
