“Look upon yourself as a tree planted beside the water, which bears its fruit in due season; the more it is shaken by the wind, the deeper it strikes its roots into the ground.” -- Margaret Mary Alacoque

KUDOS TO THE CAST & CREW OF "HONK, JR."

It was a magical weekend at SMM with the production of our school play, "Honk Jr." The students did a spectacular job with just three weeks of rehearsals intermingled with a few rainouts.

Special thanks to these wonderful people without whom the play would not have been such a success:

Scott Sauber, Director

Allee Peck, Assistant to the Director

Lisa Ramirez, Faculty Moderator

Lighting crew: Brady Bauer, Hailey Bauer, and Natalie Bywater

Rob & Valerie Bywater, PTO Play Reps

Order the 2020-2021 SMM Yearbook Now

Order online at www.jostens.com/YearbookPlease

Would you like to recognize your children for their success in school this year? Place a congratulatory ad for his/her promotion? Would you like to advertise your business in a place where over 500 parents can see it?

It’s easy to create a recognition ad. Just send us a copy of your favorite photo and compose your message. While you’re thinking of what your ad will look like, also think about the size of the ad space. Select a horizontal or vertical format in a variety of sizes and costs. Take a look at the examples in our brochure. You can do the same thing for a business ad.

Please click on this link for information about placing ads our yearbook this year. https://yearbookavenue.jostens.com/sell/ad/offers.html

You design your own ad, but it must be in good taste and appropriate for a Catholic elementary school. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Gay in the school office.

NEWS FROM POPE JOHN PAUL II CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

Jags Hunt For a Cure

Some of our SMM Alumni are members of the Jags For a Cure Team who raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They are on a mission to find a cure for leukemia and Lymphoma. Three of our former students, Brooke LeBreton, Kameron Dixon, and Ariana Caruso, appeared on the WSMM Morning Show this past Wednesday and spoke to our students about the program. The monies raised goes directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Last year, $120,871 went to Slidell families.

On Tuesday, March 30, some of the team will be in the morning car line collecting "Coins for a Cure." This is strictly a voluntary drive. Students and parents are asked to place any loose change (or bills) in the cans. Thank you for our support of our former students who are doing His work on Earth.

Please Pray for Our Priests

In addition to our requests for prayers for our SMM families and community, we request that you pray for individual priests in our Archdiocese. Our priests need our prayers as much as we need theirs. These priests are celebrating their birthdays this upcoming week. What a great birthday present to have so many people praying for them.

Rev. Charles Whitney Dussouy; Rev. John Dominic Sims, O.P.; Rev. Colin Vincent Braud; Rev. Victor E. Laroche, O.O.; Rev. Jospeh Duc Dzien; Rev. Mark Odoguje

Here is a brief prayer that you may want to use:

Eternal Father, we lift up to you these and all the priests of the world. Sanctify them. Heal and guide them. Mold them into the likeness and holiness of your Son, Jesus, the Eternal High Priest. May their lives be pleasing tp you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

LENTEN EVENINGS OF CONFESSION

As has become tradition in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, all Catholic church parishes in the area will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation for three consecutive Wednesdays beginning March 10. As we continue the observance of the Year of the Eucharist & St. Joseph, the evening of March 24 will be one of not only the Sacrament of Reconciliation but one of Eucharistic Adoration and Exposition.

Feed Your Soul with Prayer this Lent!

Nothing will transform your life so completely, absolutely, and forever like really learning how to pray.

Beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing through all forty days of Lent, you will receive a daily email with a short video to help you reconnect with yourself and your God.

If you choose to throw yourself into this experience, we promise you that you will be surprised by what God can do in your life with just an email, a short video and an open heart. So this year, don’t just sign up for BEST LENT EVER, have your best lent ever!
