Message from Dr. Epperson

Hello! We focus every day on ensuring that our students are learning and growing, and we like to have lots of fun along the way. In order to create an environment conducive to learning, our first priority must be safety for everyone in our building. I want to give some reminders as we begin this new school year.

It is important that our students and parents know about our TIP411 program that allows anyone to make an anonymous tip to the McKinney Police Department about a safety concern on our campus. Anyone with a cell phone can send an anonymous tip to the McKinney Police Department by texting the key word CMSTIP and the information to 847411 (tip411). The CMS form is also at this link on the district website. We have this information posted in various locations in our school.

*I also encourage parents to tell your children about this text option. Social pressure in middle school can prevent students making reports in person, even to parents. They need this socially safe way to make a report.

We also conduct monthly fire drills and at least two lockdown drills. lockout drills, and shelter in place drills each year. We always tell students prior to a drill that we are conducting a drill and everyone is safe. In addition to these drills, our safety team conducts medical response drills.

We are having a great school year, and we always appreciate your partnership!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Patriot Day

We were honored to have the opportunity to recognize Patriot Day in our school. Thanks to our cheerleaders and PALS for their spirited leadership this morning! Students loved receiving stickers and our school is full of red, white, and blue. Our students participated in a special moment of silence this morning, and they are honoring heroes in CREED lessons. Thank you to our community first responders for your service and dedication.

Free/Reduced Lunch

Anyone who has not submitted an application for this school year will be dropped from the program September 29th. Although all students will receive free meals (one breakfast and one lunch combo meal per day) during this school year 2021-2022, we would like to encourage parents to submit an application because there are other benefits for being in the program (like the P-EBT and reduced fees) and to establish the school year 2022-2023 30-day carryover status.

Fall Picture Day September 29

Be on the lookout for a school picture flyer in the next newsletter.

After School Tutoring

Tutoring buses will begin September 14th. The buses run every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30. Students must participate in tutoring to access these buses. They stop at each feeder elementary school to allow students to walk home from that location and apartment complexes.
