Message from Mr. Horne

Broken Arrow Families,

We are excited to have kicked off a new initiative at Broken Arrow this school year to further strengthen relationships within our school. Trailblazer Families" are made up of a student representative from every grade level and an adult. They spend time together once a month participating in team building activities and learning more about one another.

Trailblazer Families kicked off on Wednesday, August 31 with an assembly explaining the purpose to students followed by the first family meeting of the school year. During the meeting families introduced themselves to one another and then created a "secret hand signal" that they could share when seeing one another around the building. This was a wonderful kickoff and we are all looking forward to our second meeting of the school year scheduled for Tuesday, September 27.

We continue to welcome MVP's (volunteers) back into our school this year. If you have received the MVP Volunteer training we are ready to put you to work supporting students in our school. Please reach out to me or to Mrs. Rogers, our social worker, if you are willing to donate even just an hour a week. If you have not yet received the training please reach out to Mrs. Rogers (alyssarogers@smsd.org) to get set up for the short training and background check. We would love to see you soon at our school!

Have a great weekend.

Mr. Horne

Birthday Treats

We absolutely understand the importance of celebrating a birthday, but due to allergies and other health factors, we ask that you do not bring treats or food of any kind to the school for a student's birthday. Alternatives might be toys, trinkets, pencils, stickers, etc to share with the class. Click here for the district's Wellness Plan.

Thank you for your cooperation & helping us keep our school safe!

School of Excellence Survey

Did you know Broken Arrow was one of only two SMSD schools recognized by the National PTA for strong school-family relationships, earning the National PTSA School of Excellence designation for the past 2 years?!

We are again working on pursuing being a PTA School of Excellence this year and need your help! Our project this year is increasing volunteer opportunities and fun educational experiences. Be on the lookout for upcoming field trips and other ways to get involved! Additionally, please fill out a quick survey either the online version below (both parts) or return paper survey when it comes home this week. Thank you for helping make the BA community a great place!
