Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter
April 6, 2018
Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
This first week of April was a comparatively slow one when judged against some of the breakneck weeks we've been experiencing recently. Perhaps that has something to do with events not being originally planned for these days as it was supposed to be spring break?
Anyway, on to what did occur and a look ahead...
Our high school band and choir students embarked on a multi-day trip to Boston, Massachusetts. The students will compete against other musical groups from around the Northeast and receive professional critique on their performances. In between those competitions, students were also afforded the opportunity to do a bit of sight seeing and explore historic Boston; what fun!
The following students were chosen by their teachers as Students of the Month (March) for their respective grades. Scholarship, character and consistency are all traits these students exhibit in spades:
6- Tyree Tyler
6- Theresa Strano
7- Dasha Lyubetska
7- Gagandeep Kumar
8- Yesenia Marquez
8- Oscar Estrada
9- Leila Echevarria
10- Andy Figueroa Polanco
11- Nichole Castelli
12- Joshua Jenkins
You can find their pictures below. Congrats!
I met with approximately 30 students this week to continue our push to increase student voice in decision making in our school. Students were chosen randomly and we met in small groups over breakfast. Conversations were lively and insightful. Many good ideas were shared.
Friday afternoon, Junior High Herd Hotshots got to take a break from class and work to celebrate with a movie and popcorn in the auditorium! Students become Herd Hotshots by maintaining a 75 average or better in each of their classes, having no disciplinary referrals, and not having more than one absence or lateness to school during the previous month. Great job Hotshots!
Kudos goes to Mrs. Kalb's homeroom who won the 3rd Annual Gambuzza Ball Tournament today during Herd Huddle time!
Next Wednesday April 11, will be our National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. This student-led, student-featured event is always a pleasure to witness. Hope to see some of you there!
Finally, we are still looking for volunteers to help with the Woodbury Relays on April 20 & 21. Please contact Mr. Shivers at gshivers@woodburysch.com or 856-853-0123 ext. 257 if you are available. Thank you in advance for considering.
Keep Love Present,
Dr. Vivadelli
