Auburn Middle School students, Landyn Gorrell, Isaac Stanley, Kieran Dowell, and Chance Sweeney competed at the state RCX Robotics Competition in Lexington on April 17th. While Auburn enjoys a large robotics class, with 26 students, only the top two regional teams qualify to compete at the state tournament during the STLP Conference. Landyn, Isaac, Kieran, and Chance finished with a score of 495 points and a 7th place finish. This is a personal best for the Auburn Middle School Robotics program and great accomplishment for robotics students. Congratulations, Auburn Robotics and sponsor, Mrs. Angela McColpin!

Community News & Opportunities
Auburn School is excited to announce that our school will be a setting in an upcoming full-length feature film "A Place Called Home”, written and directed by Kiel Thorlton, an alumnus of Auburn School (#onceatigeralwaysatiger) and the Logan County school system! You can find more information about the director, here: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3318327/
“A Place Called Home” is being filmed in Logan County, Kentucky, in June 2019! The film crew are looking for CHILDREN (entering 3rd-6th grade next year) and WOMEN (20-50 years old) to have an opportunity to act as background extras at Auburn Elementary School.
If you are interested in being an extra in the film, here are the qualifications:
1. Children entering 3rd-6th grade next year. We are currently looking for between 65 and 85 children.
**Be available ALL DAY June 26
**A legal guardian MUST be present at the time of filming for a child to participate.
**DO NOT wear anything blue (denim blue jeans are okay, but nothing else).
**DO NOT wear anything with large screen print logos or recognizable characters.
**Bring a change of clothes in case of a wardrobe issue.
**Dress as if you were going to school for the day—nothing fancy, please.
2. Women 20-50 years old. Any woman is welcome between those ages. We are currently looking for between 25 and 45 woman to act as PTO mothers.
**Be available ALL DAY June 21.
**DO NOT wear anything blue (denim blue jeans are okay, but nothing else).
**DO NOT wear anything with large screen print logos or recognizable characters.
**Bring a change of clothes in case of a wardrobe issue.
**Dress as if you were going to a PTO meeting for the evening—nothing fancy, please.
The film itself is set for a PG-13 rating and we are hoping to have a theatrical release in early 2021. This film is an independent production and not a large Hollywood film. It’s a redemptive piece that showcases real life in Kentucky and shows the beauty of Logan County. The film has a strong message about family, love, and faith. However, it does showcase real life. In the final production there are adult themes explored such as death, loss, and violence; in addition, there is language in the film (thus the PG-
13 rating).
NO language or themes are expressed anywhere near Auburn Elementary School and no child of any kind would hear anything. The Director is a father of young children and would in no way want to express thoughts or ideas to children that he would not express to his own.
If you and/or your child are able to meet these qualifications and you would like to participate as an extra in the film this summer, please complete the signup form here:
PTO News
The PTO now has a google drive folder for public access to view the PTO Bylaws, past and future agendas, official meeting minutes, and the funding request form. Please utilize this drive to stay up to date with what is happening in PTO!

Staff/Students/Groups/Parents/Guardians should submit all funding requests to PTO via this google form. Requests must be made at least 10 days prior to the following PTO Meeting to be considered at that meeting. Requests that have funding deadlines that fall in between meeting dates may be assessed on an individual basis. PTO will then discuss/vote and meet with Mr. Ward to approve all requests.
