GREEN ELEMENTARY WEEKLY UPDATE

December 2, 2022

SCHOOL ABSENCES/ATTENDANCE

This is the time of year that some students start accumulating more absences with all the bugs in the air. It is important that you call the office EACH day your student will be absent with their name and reason for absence, or they will be counted as unexcused. After 60 hours of absences, even if they were excused, medical documentation WILL BE REQUIRED for each absence thereafter or it will count as unexcused, regardless of the reason. Refer to your Student Handbook for further details.

When a student exceeds the allotted number of unexcused hours, the district is required by law to hold a meeting with the Parent/Guardian to create an intervention plan with the purpose of improving attendance. If attendance does not improve and the student continues to accumulate unexcused absences, the district is required to file a truancy complaint in the Wayne County Juvenile Court.

1st GRADE MUSIC PROGRAM-MONDAY, DECEMBER 12th

Were you ever in a holiday program at school? What was the best Christmas present you ever received as a child? What special treats do you associate with the holidays? These are just some of the questions Granny McBee will be asking at the 1st grade program! The 1st grade students will perform Granny McBee’s Christmas Eve on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 7 pm in the Green Local Schools Cafeteria. Granny – in her old age – printed this date incorrectly before. The program is NOT December 1st. It WILL BE December 12th at 7 pm. Students should arrive at 6:40 and wear pajamas for this story that takes place on Christmas Eve! Looking forward to sharing and making memories with our 1st grade families.

REMINDER: PLEASE LABEL YOUR STUDENTS COATS, SWEATSHIRTS, AND LUNCHBOXES. THERE ARE MANY NICE ITEMS IN OUR LOST & FOUND THAT ARE NEVER CLAIMED!

SCHOOL FEES

Invoices will be sent home next week for accounts that have not been paid. School Fees of $30 are due ASAP for the 2022-23 school year. You may pay online via their

EZPay account at the following link: https://www.spsezpay.com/GreenLocal/ezpay/Login.aspx

If you need assistance setting up an account on EZPay, please contact Jamie Leach in the office at 330-669-3501 or via email at gren_jleach@tccsa.net. You may also send the payment into the school in an envelope marked with the student's name, amount, and 'SCHOOL FEES' on it.

SCHOOL LUNCH ACCOUNTS

During the 21-22 school year, lunches at the school were free due to grant money provided by the state in light of the COVID pandemic. This year, students will be required to pay for their lunches at the cost of $2.40 per lunch. By clicking the link below, you may upload money to your child's lunch account for the 22-23 school year. This week we sent home all of the student ID's and Registration Keys to use for EZ Pay and ProgressBook. If you are having trouble creating these accounts, please give the office a call. If you believe you qualify for free & reduced lunch, please see the application below and turn into the GES office.

NEW THIS YEAR........

This year we are limited in space and are having to utilize every available corner we have. We will not be keeping extra clothes for students if they get wet at recess or have an accident. We are asking that EVERY STUDENT in grades K-3 have a change of clothes they can keep in the bottom of their bookbag every day. This will help in not having to contact parents every time a student gets milk spilled on them or takes a trip down a wet slide at recess. Thank you so much!
