October Newsletter

October 1- October 31, 2021

Empower.... Educate..... Support

Each year, October is recognized worldwide as Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time to come together to raise awareness, share resources, and tell stories about dyslexia successes.

K-3rd grade parents, please understand this is also one of the main reasons for the Alabama Literacy Act. This act was passed to help improve reading but also to provide guidelines to be able to identify dyslexia type characteristics and provide early interventions so kids can read on grade level.

Great Things Happening...

To help keep our school clean and to protect everyone during these COVID times, we have challenged all staff, teachers, and classes to do their part in keeping their lunch tables clean, their classroom desk and floor areas clean, and the overall school.

The class that does the best job gets the "Golden Dustpan" trophy for the week and gets to display it for their class before the entire school.

Congratulations to Mrs. Smith's class being the first winner this year.

2nd winner... Mr. Wally's class

3rd winner... Mrs. Broussard's class

4th winner... Ms. Burgess class

Blue Cross Blue Shield Be Healthy Schools Grant

We are so excited that we received the Blue Cross Blue Shield "Be Healthy Schools" grant. This will allow us to buy more equipment for the PE department and help students to continue to learn more about health, wellness, and exercise. A big shout out to Coach Kim Lewis and Librarian Melissa Summerford for earning the grant for our school.
