Ms. Mooney's 7th Grade Newsletter
December/January
Happy Holidays!
It was great to see so many of you at parent conferences! Thanks for stopping by to see me with questions and comments.
Last month, 7th graders had a great time building straw towers with their classmates. It was great to watch them work on team-building skills and work together to build the tallest straw tower. Many of the groups worked well together and discovered that sometimes the building left standing isn’t tall but is the strongest. The important point of the straw tower activity was to help strengthen communication, collaboration, taking turns, and perseverance skills in a group activity. They did a great job!
We will be working on more team building activities together during the 2017-2018 school year.
Many of the 7th grade students are currently making up homework assignments and projects. The 7 red and 7 blue teams both have a homework page that can be accessed through the school website page. All of the 7th graders should have the homework page bookmarked on their computers. The middle school also offers a Homework Club that meets for 1 hour after school on most Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Applications can be picked up in the office and are also on the school website.
If your child is struggling academically in any class he/she can also go see that particular teacher during PLC for extra help. When students go see teachers for extra help it is helpful for them to bring specific questions/material with them that they don’t understand.
There are many important dates coming up in December:
12/1- Picture Retakes (bring your smiles)
12/4- End of the 1st Trimester
12/25-1/1- Winter Break
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. I wish all of you a Happy Holiday Season!
Sincerely,
Ms. Lisa Mooney
