The Legacy Garden is complete!

The Park Hill Buildings and Grounds crew has been busy this fall finishing up our 40th Anniversary Legacy Garden. The garden is now home to the personalized bricks purchased by many Union Chapel families and each classroom last year. The patio and walkway were built with these bricks along with those from the 25th Anniversary celebration. The time capsule was reburied for future generations and is marked by an engraved stone which was generously donated by Frisbee Monument Company in Independence, Missouri. A special thank you to the PTA for their financial donation and support to make this project possible for the current and future generations of our Union Chapel family. We welcome you to stop by and take a look at this wonderful addition to our school.

Mrs. Osborne travels to her alma mater!

20 years later, Union Chapels music teacher Mrs. Osborne, traveled to Ohio University where she was a member of the Most Exciting Band in the Land! Ohio University is in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio in a beautiful town called Athens, Ohio. She marched in the OU Marching 110 from 1992-1995. She played French horn; the marching French horn is called a mellophone. Mrs. Osborne marched with the alumni at the OU homecoming game a couple weeks ago. "I had a BLAST & a most memorable day," said Eve!

November is Healthy Lifestyles Month

Research shows that a healthy child can achieve and learn more. Union Chapel is celebrating the National PTA Healthy Lifestyles Month with the encouragement of healthy food choices and increased physical activity. Each school day the Union Chapel community will be presented with a fitness or nutrition related challenge. These will be simple exercises, short activities, or healthy food choice challenges for students and adults alike. The classroom with the most participation will earn extra recess time as a reward. Many of the nutrition challenges can be met at home, so ask your child about the challenge of the day! Questions? Contact PTA Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator, caroline.heckman@yahoo.com

Thanksgiving Lunch

It’s hard to believe, but our annual Thanksgiving lunch will be here before we know it. The menu for this special meal is roast turkey, hot roll, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, peach cup, and pumpkin pie.

If you’re planning to join us for Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, November 19 during your child's regular lunch time, please make note of the following very important details.

Due to a limited supply of turkey to our district this year, we will also have a limited number of Thanksgiving lunches available. For this reason, it is especially important for you to make your reservation early so you don’t miss out on Thanksgiving lunch.

The cost is just $3.25 for adults or children other than Union Chapel students. Please bring cash or a check in the exact amount, as change will not be distributed. We have many guests who attend this special event, and again, we have a limited number of servings this year, so we ask that you help us plan ahead by contacting the Union Chapel office, at 816-359-4310 as soon as possible, to make your reservation.
