Big picture

No School Monday

Our school will be closed Monday, May 25 in honor of Memorial Day.

Please make sure your grades are finalized this week. Email or text me if I can answer any questions about assignments. Mrs. Joy will be in contact with you regarding grade finalizations!

To ease in having to do grade edits, Jen and I will scroll through gradebooks and offer support as needed.

School Keys

Due to school security requirements, we must collect ALL keys from staff members prior to your summer break. Please make arrangements to turn these in on or before your last day of work.

Email/text me if you need in over the summer before we hand back out keys. It's no problem!

chromebook return

Students that are participating in the Charlotte's Web book study may keep their Chromebooks until the end of June. All other families are being asked to return their Chromebooks on Friday, May 29 when they pick up their child's awards.

We anticipate may not bringing the devices back; office staff and administration will handle reaching out to those families in June.

5th grade send off

Please consider coming to school on Friday, May 29 to say goodbye to our 5th graders! Here is what we are going to do....

Staff will park in the parking lot but plan on standing on the grassy island in the bus circle. 5th grade parents are invited to come to our bus circle at 1:00 to get awards, participate in the color bombing, and have a chance to see us celebrating their hard work as they end their time at SES.

If you are willing, please join us at 1:00 in the bus circle (under the awning if the weather is not ideal)...we will have music. Feel free to make posters and get creative! Let's show our 5th graders how proud we are of them and give them the send off they deserve!

Charlotte's Web Book Study

If you are participating, I will be placing copies of the book in your mailboxes as soon as possible. I will email once this is completed. We are going to start June 1. You can follow updates on our Facebook page.

If you are interested in being a guest reader, please let me know via email.

Book Club

We will meet via Zoom on Wednesday, May 27 at 1:00 pm. I will send the Zoom invite to participants!

Report Cards

We will encourage parents to view final grades via Skyward. Parents can pick up report cards in June. We will consider mailing report cards in mid-June through the District.

2020-2021 School Year

We do not have answers at this time regarding the return to school in August. I will communicate updates with you via email over the summer.

2020-2021 School Grade Calculations

Please keep in mind this is a PROPOSAL and not finalized.

To accommodate the missing year of assessment results, learning gains would be calculated based on the improvement from the "prior-prior" year to the current year. For example, a learning gain would be based on improvement from the 2019 Grade 3 FSA ELA to the 2021 Grade 5 FSA ELA.

What this means....

Next year's 3rd grade and 4th grade students will solely count for proficiency on the state assessment. 5th grade students will count for both learning gains and proficiency.

5th grade, we will notify you of bottom quartile students.

Guaranteed Laughs!

We are going to have a Zoom call and play some fun games together on Wednesday, May 27 from 10-11 am. All staff is invited to play and join the fun! The Zoom info is below:

Topic: Staff Games!
