Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

It is with mixed feelings that we write this last Principal Message to the current Castro community. It has been an honor serving you and your family these past two years and we are excited to lead the two new schools of the future. Your support and involvement these past two years has provided a wonderful environment for our work. We are dedicated and excited to lead Gabriela Mistral Elementary School and Mariano Castro Elementary School! We look forward to welcoming you to the 2015-2016 school year! For those families leaving Castro for middle school, we wish you much success, and remember that we always welcome back alumni!

In partnership,

Theresa Lambert, Principal Mariano Castro

Marcela Simoes de Carvalho, Principal Gabriela Mistral

At their May 27, 2015 meeting, the MVWSD Board of Trustees approved the names for the two schools. The Traditional Program School is now officially Mariano Castro Elementary School and the Dual Immersion School is now officially Gabriela Mistral Elementary School.

The students in each program are going through a process of voting for new mascot and new school colors. We will have final results on Thursday, June 4th and announce the new mascot and colors for each school then.
