Exciting Grant Information

In case you haven't heard from your student yet, we are very excited! On Friday of last week, they came and awarded our class with 2 grant checks. The first will provide one standing desk for every 3rd and 4th grade classroom (plus 2 more for mine). The second is for 7 Sphero Robotic Balls. We will be able to use them along with our iPads to learn math and science skills along with coding! I cannot wait to see what our students can do with such awesome technology. Take a look at the video below to see what it is all about!

Holiday Elf

We sent home a letter last week regarding our classroom Holiday Elf. Please see the letter below. Please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like for your student to not participate. Thanks!

Dear Parents,

Our class holiday elf needs help this year. To make the holiday season even more fun, I am asking that you send an inexpensive stocking to school by Tuesday, December 8th. Along with the stocking, please send a little something to school for each student in your child’s class (20 students in Mrs. Bodmann’s class / 22 students in Mrs. Lambert’s class). Examples of items to send can be anything – chocolate (no peanuts), pencils, erasers, toys, homemade items, etc….but, please send the items in a sealed bag or container as not to spoil the surprise for your child. The holiday elf will be putting surprises in the stockings daily. All items must be sent before the Winter Party, December 18, 2015.

This weekend, I will purchase 10 extra stockings for those of you who do not have an extra stocking lying around or time to purchase one. Your child may purchase a stocking from me for $1 on a first come, first serve basis. (If you prefer that your child NOT participate, please send me an e-mail at

Please let me know if you have any questions. Ho, ho, ho!!!!

Unit 6 - Decimals and Fractions

On Wednesday, we will begin our next unit in math - decimals and fractions. This time of year is perfect for fractions. Be sure to ask your kids to join in on all that baking fun so they can start working on recognizing fractions. Want to really challenge your student? Have them double a recipe or cut it in half! We will be focusing on decimals before the winter break and fractions when we return.

Science Fair Projects

Completed project boards are due on January 6th. They have a brochure in their science fair folders with more details about what their boards should look like. The most important thing is that students' faces are not in the pictures and that their name is not on the front of the board. Please let me know if you have any questions or if your student needs any assistance.
