Student Medicaid Progress Reports

Thanks to those of you who have turned in your Medicaid Progress Reports. If you haven't done so yet, please get them in this week.

Medicaid requires the name of the student’s primary care physician on the IEP. This can be placed in the medical information in the demographic section. Physician information can be obtained from the parent or from PowerSchool.

Bookshare Registering

Below are the instructions that we received from Bookshare:

As a Special Education teacher you should be listed as a Sponsor on the account, not a Member. Once you are a Sponsor on the account you will be able to add your students as Members of the Organization.

Depending on how many students you are adding to your account, there are two ways to add members to your Organization. If you are only adding a few students, follow these steps to add them one at a time:

  1. Log in to your Bookshare account.

  2. Select the “My Bookshare” link.

  3. Select the “Members” link.

  4. Select the “Add a Member” button.

If you are adding a larger number of students you can save time by using an Organizational Roster. The electronic Organizational Roster is an excel spreadsheet template we created that can be used to add either Members or Sponsors to an Organization. The roster must include names, grades, qualifying print disability information and a few other details, and serves as Proof of Disability in place of adding them online separately. To access the Organizational Roster online:

  1. Log in to your Bookshare account.

  2. Select the “My Bookshare” link.

  3. Select the “Upload Roster” link.

  4. Select the “New Member/Sponsor Roster Template” link.

  5. Download the template and complete the required information on the roster.

  6. Return to your Bookshare account and follow the steps on the “Upload Roster” page to upload your completed roster. Once Bookshare approves your roster the new Members will be added to your account.

More information is available for the types of disabilities that are eligible for Bookshare. Since Bookshare eligibility is based on copyright law, not education law, we encourage you to review the qualifications chart before adding students to your Organization. Please check with Sherry or Laura for that chart.

First Aid and CPR Certification Survey

Don't forget to fill out the survey about your personal First Aid and CPR certification. I believe there are 5 staff members who have NOT filled out the survey. It only takes a minute to fill it out. Thanks.
