AISD Academic Enrichment and Credit Recovery Sessions

Students have access to dozens of programs that can help them get a head start on the school year, stay engaged over the summer, and recover credits if necessary.

The AISD teachers and staff you know and trust will oversee these Summer Academic Opportunities and use a curriculum that aligns with district and state learning objectives.


Parents who are interested in Summer Academic Opportunities are encouraged to reach out to their campus. Please check if your specific program is remote, on-campus or hybrid.

AISD Camp Heatwave

Camp Heatwave is more than a fun day camp—it is a summer program designed to keep your children involved, creatively challenged, physically active and safe during their time off from school. Camp Heatwave will stimulate your child's curiosity and challenge them to discovery.

Registration is now open for the five BILINGUAL virtual camps all about filmmaking, fashion, entrepreneurship, leadership, self love, health and more!

Somos escritoras summer workshop

This is a creative space for Latinx girls that invites them to draw, write and perform stories from their lives using art, theater, and writing as a tool for self-reflection and self-expression. The goal of the program is to support girls to continue to develop their writing while learning new tools to speak their truths, define themselves, and amplify their voices within a supportive community of Latinx girls and women.

APD Youth Summer Camp

APD Youth Summer Camp partners with the Austin Independent School District.

Middle School aged children enjoy four weeks of free summer camp. Participants experience activities, such as bowling, swimming, volleyball and dodge ball and immerse themselves in the study of subjects such as art, history, social justice, the environment, leadership, decision making, and time and money management.

Camp GOTR

If you are a 3rd – 5th grade girl who wants to make friends, play games, be creative and have

a blast - Camp Girls On The Run is for you! At Camp GOTR you will participate in exciting activities and have tons of fun with other amazing girls.

  • 2021 Camp Session Dates: June 21-25 and July 12-16 (8:30 to 12:30)
  • Ages: Rising 3rd - 5th grade girls

Family Clean Creek Camp by the City of Austin Watershed Protection Program

Watershed 4 Day Camp includes hiking and exploring Colorado River with a scavenger hunt challenge, wading in the creek and find out how bugs tell us about water quality, cleaning up and floating on Lady Bird Lake, learning green gardening for clean water.

Watershed & Aquifer 3 Day Camp includes wading in the creek and finding out how bugs tell us about water quality, getting down into the aquifer through a local cave, paddling and cleaning up Barton Creek.

Session A ----- June 3-6, 2019
Session B ----- June 25-27, 2019
  • Ages: 9 – 14. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

AUSTIN BAT CAVE

The OWL Pen Pal Program is back for the Summer of 2021!

This program is ideal for young writers (age 10-18) with strong reading and writing skills, who are able to work independently and are self-motivated (they will be responsible for corresponding with seniors in their community) and who are interested in learning from and engaging with their senior pen pal.

This program will run from early May-the second week of September.

Austin Film Festival's Young Filmmakers Program

Join the Austin Film Festival for a summer of creativity, collaboration, and fun during their 19th annual Summer Film Program. They offer hands-on, one-week camp classes and workshops in the arts of screenwriting, filmmaking, editing, video game writing and more..
  • 2021 Camp Session Dates: June 7-July 30, weekly sessions, various times

El Ranchito Summer Camp (Spots Available!)

El Ranchito is a non-profit nature immersion summer camp. Campers who qualify for camp are students who are on free/reduced lunch and attend a title 1 school.


El Ranchito currently has space for rising 4th and 5th graders for their session 2 camp.

Registration is now open for Summer 2021 Thinkery Camps!

We are pleased to announce that in-person camp sessions at Thinkery will begin on Monday, May 31.

Thinkery camps provide a creative, safe and challenging environment for campers to learn and grow—and have a whole lot of fun while they’re doing it!

Choose from three different STEAM themes, with activities and experiences designed for campers in three different age groups.

New camps start every week, so you can schedule around other summer fun.
