Pinkerton Patch
What is happening in the Pinkerton Patch?
Garden Bed Hoop House Project Complete
The WASSE group began the project as 4th graders during a fourth grade math extension project last year. The project gave 4th grade learners an opportunity to problem solve in the Pinkerton Patch. Groups of students were asked to solve the problem of keeping the 4th grade herbs growing year round. The 4th grade groups researched several options for garden bed covers and found that hoop houses or cold frames were the favored solutions. After research and math calculations, groups presented their findings to the garden committee and the hoop house solution was chosen for installation. The WASSE group project was chosen for it's cost effectiveness and maintenance sustainability.
All Pinkerton Patch learners are invited to check out the herbs growing in the 4th grade bed this winter to see if the hoop house does it's work against the cold!
