We are enjoying school visits, as well as the many open houses. Open House season offers a great opportunity to gauge the connection between home and school after the first month of the school year. As we make our way around the system it is evident that you are working to build strong connections with the families in your attendance area. It is uplifting to see such energy, enthusiasm, and positive relationships blossoming in your hallways during this time as you and your staff make connections with students and their families. Thank you for your focus on this important work to ensure our schools are a welcoming place where parents are encouraged to engage and support their child’s learning!
This week we meet with your elected leadership team (delta). We had a some great discussion, and they represented you so well. One request that you will find we are able to take immediate action is to add Action Needed & Upcoming Dates sections to this newsletter. We are also (re)encouraging other departments to send info to us to funnel through the RAH as appropriate, so you recieve less volume of emails while still getting necessary communication.
I've had some heart-tug convos with many of you recently, and appreciate connecting with you around the work, challenges, and opportunities. The things that are challenging will naturally make their way to you, and you don't have to go out seeking them. What may be better use of your time is to look for the good, and accentuate the positive. The good surrounds us every day, and we need to spend energy and time acknowledging the good. The good motivates us to greater action. The good makes the job great!

Admin Growth Plans
Administrator growth plans should be submitted in Tower by September 30th, with the district indicator once again being indicator 2.2 - Provide an Effective Instructional Program. The second indicator will be one that you select as an area for your growth this year. If you are looking for a third (optional) indicator, or having trouble landing on what to select as your second indicator, one to consider might be 2.1 - Promote Positive School Culture, as we work towards the implementation of schoolwide behavioral expectations through PRIDE.
Capital Planning Process

ALICE and Mental Health Training
From Bret Range: “School Police Services and School Counselors will partner to deliver the required two hour training which will be offered outside of contract time during 2nd quarter. See this link for the schedule and please sign up for a date and time that works for your site (first come, first served). Make-up sessions will be scheduled during 3rd quarter. Sign in sheets and processes for accountability will be e-mailed at a later date. SafeSchools Required Training
From HR: “1st Deadline this Friday, September 27th -- Due are the Employee Handbook, Bullying, EPI Pen, Sexual Harassment, SPS Board Policies and SPS Leave Policies. Employees must complete these mandatory trainings each school year to be in compliance with district, state and/or federal laws. We plan to send out reports to leaders of those who haven’t completed the trainings- we appreciate your assistance to ensure 100% participation.”
