A message from Mr. Finkle!
Since this is my last communication with you for this year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students and their families a wonderful holiday, a restful winter recess, and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
When we return on Tuesday, January 2nd, we will turn the calendar and immediately begin to think about the 2018-2019 school year. Our annual meeting with the students will be on Thursday, January 18th, where the high school administration and content supervisors will highlight new courses and answer questions about scheduling courses for next year. The process is the same and we will be using the Schedule Waiver Form with a hard deadline of March 15, 2018. The 2018-2019 Program of Studies booklet and the Schedule Waiver Form will be available on our web site shortly. Stay tuned.....................
I would also like to let you know of a couple of events in January that you should place on your calendar. On January 12th at 7:00 p.m., Justine Carey, guidance counselor, will be attending the PTA meeting and giving an in-service for parents about Naviance, our college application organizer and provider. This is a don't miss evening as you need to be knowledgeable about the program and the process in order to support your child.
Additionally, on January 18th, we will host our annual AP/CAP Information evening. The presentation will be from 6:30 - 7:20 and feature our own AP instructors who will explain the content and expecations of their respective courses. The administration will also be there to answer any questions that you have about AP, CAP and the differences! Previous attendees have raved about the evening and gave them much more insight into the courses we offer here at DHS.
If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at dfinkle@delranschools.org or 856-461-6100 x3005.
Athletic News
The winter season is in full swing and we already have much to celebrate. The wrestling team earned the team title at the Pine Barrens Tournament on December 16. The boys' bowling team is 6-1 and the girls are competing at a high level at every match. The girls' basketball team will be competing over the break in a holiday tournament at Haddon Township. The boys' basketball team will be competing over the break in a holiday tournament at Collingswood. Wrestling will be competing at Hunterdon Central. The swim team is working hard and many of the swimmers have earned personal bests at meets. Continue to check the schedule online because changes occur periodically. Come out and support our students. Go Bears!!!
IMPORTANT REMINDER: if your student wants to participate in a sport during the school year, the student must have a valid physical. Once a new physical is complete, do not hold onto it. Turn the physical into Mr. Guidotti or Ms. Jordan so that it can be forwarded to the school physician for approval. Make sure that all information on the physical and health history form are filled out completely and accurately. In addition, a student may not participate in a sport unless the ATS portal has been completed. Directions on how to complete ATS can be found on Mr. Caplin’s teacher page.
Not able to make the home winter sporting events? Log into www.nfhsnetwork.com and subscribe to the Delran home page. You can watch basketball and wrestling matches live from the comfort of your home on your computer or smart tv for a low price. $9.99 per month, $40 per season. In addition, if you miss the live event, games are stored on the page for future viewing. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Guidotti.
Happy Holidays everyone and GO BEARS!!!
Teacher of the Year
Mr. Brzozowski is a consummate professional, working each day to inspire his students to achieve greatness. He is described by his students as an excellent teacher filled with enthusiasm and energy.
Mr. Brzozowski teaches special education, specializing in the field of mathematics.
He has the innate ability to motivate the unmotivated students through perseverance and having a never-give-up attitude. He truly believes and embodies the concept that every child can learn and he ensures that it occurs at a high level.
Mr. Brzozowski is completely accessible to his students, nurturing and encouraging through every academic exercise. He also participates in many activities outside of the classroom, believing that being a part of student’s lives must extend beyond the four walls of the classroom.
Congratulations Mr. Brzozowski! Well deserved!!!!

Alumni Walk
Alumni Walk Update- We are paving the way to celebrate Bear Pride! The latest pavers were installed last week along with the an Inlay from the Class of 2016! The Advisors from the Class of 2017 are working on their inlay design. We are very hopeful this year’s Senior Class will buy a brick and cast their permanent legacy on DHS. It looks like we have established a new tradition of not only allowing a platform for individuals, but also each graduating class as a whole, to leave their mark. Please consider purchasing a brick in order to pave the entire walkway. The link for purchasing a brick is below. We would also like to acknowledge the work of Best Cut Lawn-care and Landscaping for installing our bricks. They have donated their time and talents to DHS and provided their work free of charge. Thanks you Phil Velo and Best Cut.
