Bus Behaviour - Essential Agreement

As John Brewster mentioned in last weeks school newsletter, we will be introducing a three strike system after Chinese New Year. If a child receives three strikes for unexpected bus behavior in one term, they will be banned from the bus for one week.

Please have a chat with your child about the expectations for a safe journey on the bus.

Expected behaviors on the school bus

  • Listen to and follow your Bus Mother’s instructions
  • Speak politely and respectfully to others
  • Keep food and drinks inside your bag while onboard
  • Once on the bus, find your seat and use quiet voices
  • Pay attention and listen to what is being said to you
  • Put on your seatbelt and SIT STILL
  • Wait until the bus has stopped before unbuckling

Unexpected behaviors on the school bus - any one of these behaviors constitutes a STRIKE

  • Annoying others around you, eg. kicking seats
  • Speaking rudely to somebody
  • Ignoring instructions from your Bus Mother
  • Throwing things
  • Shouting on the bus
  • Moving around once on board
  • Getting out of your seat while the bus is still moving
  • Unbuckling your seatbelt while the bus is still moving
  • Distracting the bus driver while he is driving
  • Playing with sharp objects eg. pencils, recorders
