What's Happening...
As we return from February break it has been a busy week as the trimester winds down. Many classes have begun presenting final projects and reviewing as trimester exams will be taking place next Wednesday through Friday. As a reminder please send your child with a dismissal note if they are being dismissed after exams.
Over the break 24 students visited Portugal and Spain taking in the culture and visiting many historical sites. THS DECA is competing at the state conference in Boston, with the awards ceremony taking place Saturday. Good luck to our team! THS Theater will be presenting the One-Act production of "The Blue and The Grey" for METG festival on Saturday, 2/29 at Leominster High School. Tickets are $15 and available at the door.
Good luck to our wrestlers competing in the All State tournament and boys basketball who are taking on Whitinsville Christian tonight.
As always for the latest news and announcements follow us on Twittter, Instagram, and Facebook. Have a great weekend. #tpsprepares

Senior Parents/Guardians:
Scholarships are continuing to arrive in the Student Services office and are posted on Naviance as well. Please encourage your child to review these postings and apply for scholarships.
Make sure to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application if you have not already done so. This application can be found at fafsa.gov. The FAFSA is the most important application in the financial aid process. All colleges and universities will require the FAFSA before determining a financial aid award. Colleges may also require students to complete a CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (profileonline.collegeboard.org) and/or a college specific financial aid application. It is important to be aware of each college's financial aid deadlines - missing deadlines could result in missing out on financial aid. For more information on the financial aid process please visit mefa.org.
From Debbie Donohoe BSN, RN, NCSN in the THS Health Office:
We are still experiencing reports of students experiencing flu-like symptoms and those being diagnosed with both Type A and Type B Influenza (Flu).
Symptoms of Flu can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, dizziness, fatigue and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea. Some people with Flu will not have a fever. If your child has the Flu, they should stay home to rest and to avoid giving the Flu to others. They should be kept home until at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever or signs of fever (chills, feeling very warm, flushed appearance or sweating) without using fever reducing medication like Acetaminophen (Tylenol), Ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin), or OTC (over-the-counter) cold or Flu products containing these medications. Flu is diagnosed by your clinician with a nasal swab. Sometimes antiviral medication is prescribed. This medication works best when started within the first 2 days of illness, but may help reduce the severity of illness if started 2 or more days after onset of illness for persons who are very sick.
Prevention Tips to avoid Flu as well as other viruses and bacteria that cause illness:
Keep hands away from nose, mouth and eyes.
Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds.
Cover mouth and nose with a tissue or bent arm when coughing or sneezing.
Do not drink from same glass, eat from same plate, or share utensils with someone who is sick. Avoid direct contact, especially saliva & droplets from coughing and sneezing, with those who are sick.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is still advising that the single best way to prevent influenza is vaccination of everyone six months of age and older.
If your child is diagnosed with Flu or other communicable illness, please notify me by calling the school at (978) 649-7571 option 2 or
via email to: debbie.donohoe@tyngsboroughps.org.
Thank you and stay healthy!
