Why do we Breathe?
BUT WE ARE HERE TO ANSWER!!!
Our body stores many nutrients that we need, but one thing we can't store is Oxygen. Oxygen is an invisible gas that is extremely important to our survival. Since we cannot store Oxygen, we must continually breathe to take in Oxygen and release Carbon Dioxide, a harmful gas which is toxic to our bodies. Since you can't store oxygen your body must go through a process called breathing! This is the reason for the season of breathin'.
Breathing is Beautiful!
- In more complex animals breathing is a process of carrying oxygen to the lungs.
- In the human's lungs, your lungs rest on the diaphragm which moves downward as you breathe and your rib cage gets expanded.
- The diaphragm moves upward when we exhale
- Oxygen is sent to the blood through respiration
