Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus: Reading to understand- Please focus this week on reading books with your students and asking them comprehension questions, have them retell you the story in their own words, and even make a BME (Beginning, middle and end) chart in which they can write one sentence to summarize each. Reading and understanding what we are reading is a very important skill for our students to have. Find a way to make it fun and something for them to look forward to.
Academics
Reading: This week we will be reading Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch and discussing the story components and character traits or Mr. Hatch.
ELA: We are focusing on abbreviations.
Math:Students will regroup to add and subtract 2 and 3 digit numbers.
Science: Students are learning about using weather instruments
Social Studies: This week students are identifying ways to conserve and replenish natural resources.
