What's Cooking?
For complete breakfast and lunch menus, please click here.
We wanted to let you know that the Veggie Bar will be available every Wednesday and Thursday. Every student is allowed one free trip to the bar, regardless of whether or not they purchase a school lunch.
**Please do NOT be pack soda or candy in your child's lunch.
Hero Family Outreach Candy Drive
Once again, Hoosier Road Elementary School students are invited to donate their extra Halloween candy to our troops overseas.
With Veterans Day right around the corner, this is a perfect way for HRE students to recognize those who have sacrificed so much for our country's freedom by "sacrificing" some of their Halloween candy. All types of wrapped, store-bought candy will be accepted.
To learn more about Hero Family Outreach, visit:
https://www.herofamilyoutreach.com/
Please have students bring in their candy starting on Friday, November 1st. Candy will be accepted through Monday, November 11th.
Thank you for helping us to help others and demonstrate "Gratitude" to our brave service men and women.
Upcoming Veteran's Day Program
Hoosier Road's much anticipated annual Veterans Day Program will be held in the gym on Monday, November 11th at 9:30AM and 2:00PM. Doors will open at 9:15 AM for the morning performance and at 1:45PM for the afternoon performance. Please enter through Door 10 (near the gym). Our first through fourth graders will all be performing.
Due to space limitations, we are asking that only two parents per participating student attend; sorry, no siblings. However, if you would like to bring a veteran or someone currently serving in our armed forces as a special guest, they are welcome and encouraged to attend.
To speed up the entrance process and help with seating, there will be two lines located at the gym door (exit 10) -- one for parents with veterans and one for parents only. This is considered a public event so no background checks will be required.
If you would like to purchase a copy of the performance, you can do so online or at the school for a cost of $10. Approximately 2 weeks after the performance, you will receive a link via email. The videos are hosted on Google drive for easy viewing, and downloading! To purchase online, please navigate to https://www.patricksfilms.com/product-page/hoosier-road-elementary-veterans-day-program-digital-download-2019. For further questions, please go to https://www.patricksfilms.com/faq-support or E-mail at Admin@PatricksFilms.com.
Our first through fourth graders are very excited to celebrate Veterans Day through singing, reading and honoring those who have served our country so that we may enjoy all of our freedoms.
**Due to the large volume of guests in the building, we are asking that all students return to their classrooms after the pm performance and go home via their prescheduled dismissal instructions. Unfortunately, the office only has one computer for parents to sign their students out for early release and we cannot accommodate a large number of early release checkouts.
Bookfair November 11-15
The Fall Book Fair will be November 11th-15th. All classes will visit the book fair once during the school week. The students will be able to purchase books, posters, and other merchandise. A majority of books cost between $4-$10. We do not collect sales tax.
Please send money IN AN ENVELOPE and write your child’s name, teacher, and amount on the envelope. Please include a permission slip if your child is bringing more than $25. Students who are not purchasing books are welcome to create a wish list.
We are still looking for additional volunteers to help at the book fair. If you are able to volunteer a little of your time, please click on the following link to sign up!

Donut Date
The HRE PTO's "Donut Date" is Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, November 12th and 13th from 8:00 AM - 8:45 AM. Tuesday will be for those students with last names beginning with A-K. Wednesday will be for those students with last names beginning with L-Z. Donuts, coffee, milk and juice will be served in the cafeteria and grown ups are invited to join their students in the media center to visit the book fair. There will be another Donut Date in the spring so if one parent/guardian/special visitor would like to come in the fall, the other will have an opportunity to come in the spring.
If you are unable to come on the date assigned, please know that you are welcome to come on the other day as long as you select the appropriate date on your registration form.
We are expecting a very large number of cars and the best way to provide parking for all of our families is to have them park in the front lot. This is different from what we have done in past years!
**This event requires registration. Forms were sent home recently and must be completed and returned no later Wednesday, November 6th. No late RSVP's or Walk-Ins will be accepted.
Picture Retake Day and Fall Club/Activity Group Photos
We have scheduled picture retakes
for Thursday, November 14th.
Preschool: 8:30am - 9:15am
If your child attends preschool they are welcome to come in for retakes from 8:30 - 9:00am. Our preschool classes that meet on a different day or time are still invited to come in to have their picture taken.
Fall Club and Activity Photos
We will also be photographing those students that are participating in Super Council, Fall Choir, Spell Bowl, and Drama Club. Please have your child bring in their club shirt if they have one.
KG - 4th
All Kg - 4th graders that are new to HRE or were absent on picture day will have their picture taken. If your child had their picture taken, but would like to have them redone, please send the portrait package or proof with them on retake day to give to the photographer.
Please note that our photographers will only be here for a short time in the morning as we are not having the entire school photographed. If your child needs their picture taken, please be sure they are at school in the morning on the 14th.
