First Day Fulton: Ready, Set, Go!
On July 31, Fulton County Schools will host its fifth annual Back-to-School Pep Rally in two locations at North Springs and Banneker High Schools. First Day Fulton is the district's initiative for early registration during the summer.
First Day Fulton helps families get their students ready for school by offering early student registration, school supplies and a chance to learn more about various school departments, available support services and community programs. The event provides students and parents the resources necessary to begin school on the first day of learning.
Parents and guardians can receive free food, prizes, and school supplies as they register new students or students changing schools. Entertainment, community vendors, and fun activities are also included.
Click here to pre-register for the Banneker event.

District Updates
Updated-Return to School Information/Superintent’s Update
COVID-19 and related variants continue to be a significant public health concern, and FCS remains vigilant as we prepare for a safe return to our schools for staff and students. Superintendent Mike Looney provided new information about the district’s COVID-19 protocols. He said the strategies and structures that were in place at the end of last year will largely be the same, with some changes, such as mask requirements, temperature checks and quarantine protocols. Looney also stated FCS will be ready to pivot and make adjustments if the data warrants. The district’s default position is to have school in a face-to-face environment. However, the Closing Matrix, with different levels for potential outbreaks if needed, will remain in effect. Click here to see the district’s updated Safety Protocols/Recommendations.

Happy Summer
Hello Sandtown Family,
It's Summer-time! It is perhaps the most exciting part of the year for our scholars, a time to unwind, deviating from the routine of an alarm clock. Likewise, our teachers are feeling the same joy, a mini-break, and also an opportunity to deviate from the alarm clock. In reality, we know they all deserve this time. Our team of teachers and students have equally worked diligently to make the best of a very unique year. Thus, I encourage our team of students and teachers to celebrate, relax and rejuvenate!
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, many questions are in store for our rising 6th grade parents, new 7th grade students, many who will enter the building for the first time this year, and our rising 8th graders who have experienced a very unique "middle" year. This year serves as an inaugural year for our scholars, and we are excited to welcome them back very soon.
The Summer SMORE will ensure you are fully abreast of all happenings this summer and pre-planning activities. In the interim, take some time to enjoy your scholars, have fun, laugh and embrace all of the special moments.
Please always remember: “You are so awesome! You are so amazing! Your students need you and you are making a difference in their lives. Keep on teaching, Teachers! Keep on leading, Leaders! Keep on supporting, Support Staff! Keep on parenting, Parents! Keep on making and being the difference!”
Again, and as always, thank you for all that you do to ensure we are normalizing excellence!
Your Partner,
Principal Miley

The cost of the mini-camp is $35 and includes lunch each day, and a SWAG Bag. Registration via Online School Payments begins on Thursday, July 01 and will end on Tuesday, July 13.
