"In my seventy-two hours working with Air Force Aeromedical teams, I saw things that will change my practice and life forever," Dr David Soria said afterward. "These young men and women have redefined commitment when it comes to their patients, many times being up for hours or days at a time, taking care of our injured warriors."
Dr David Soria described airlifting three critically wounded Marines, one of them hit by mortar fire, the other two wounded by Improvised Explosive Devices. "Through the flight , the CCAT doctor, medic, and respiratory therapist tend to their critical needs constantly, standing bedside the entire flight, tirelessly ensuring each patient's safety," Dr David Soria reported.
These medical personnel, Dr David Soria told viewers back home in Florida, used some of the newest medical products available, which helped to save many of the soldiers' lives. He described a product called QuikClot that stopped excessive bleeding, giving rescuers enough time to get wounded soldiers to the hospital for definitive care.
Dr David Soria said that he returned to the United States with a new understanding of trauma care that goes well beyond conventional emergency room procedures.
