English Muffin

Origins

Born in the U.S. by an English immigrant, English Muffins are small, round, flat, yeast-leavened bread commonly sliced horizontally and buttered and/or toasted.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 (0.25 oz) package of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup of warm water (110 Degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1/4 cup melted shortening
  • 6 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
