The Pizitz Post
for Students, Parents & Families - January 17, 2024
The Unexpected
Students, while you are home, I hope you are making the most of this time. Several students had been out previously due to family travel or sickness. Make use of this extra day and plan on catching up on any incomplete assignments. Think about getting ahead, reading a book, and/or checking PowerSchool to see how your assignments look so far this semester.
We look forward to being back-in-action on Thursday. Stay warm, and see you soon.
Coming Up
- 6th grade wears blue
- 7th grade wears white
- 8th grade wears red
If you participate on a sport's team, make sure to check your email from coaches for changes to practice and game schedules for the days ahead.
Attention: 8th Grade Parents
We are happy to have many partnerships in Vestavia Hills to assist us in educating our students. One of our partnerships, provided through our police department, is called Compact. Compact is an arm of our police department that serves to provide prevention, intervention, and education for substance misuse. Last week, most of our 8th graders had the opportunity to hear from Officer Alli Miller. Officer Miller reviewed the dangers of vaping with our students. She covered the physical dangers of using e-cigarettes, the risk of addiction and the impact on a teen's mental health. Those who were unable to attend last week (due to school cancellations) will have another opportunity to hear from her soon.
You can learn more about Compact on their website here.
