Coco Chanel
"I don't do fashion. I am fashion." -Coco Chanel
Biography of Coco Chanel
Coco Chanel lived to be an amazing fashion designer that we still wear today. What we don't know much of is how she got to be as big as she was, and currently still is. Chanel was born on August 19th, 1883, in Saumur, France. Chanel was a french national, and at a very young age, her mother died. Chanel was one of five kids, and after the death of her mother, her dad left the kids on their own. Chanels two brothers were sent to a farm house, where they were put to work, as unpaid child laborers. Chanel and her two sisters however, were placed in boarding school. Once Chanel was old enough, the nuns at her school helped her get a job at a local boutique, where she worked as a store assistant and seamstress. Soon after she started working, people started coming straight to her, as the word of her stitches got around fairly quickly. Chanel met Authur Chapel, and instantly fell in love with him. Chapel let Chanel open her very first store. This store opening was the first of many. Chanel soon changed the entire outlook on women's fashion in the 1920's. Women had been stuck in what men dressed them, and Chanel took that away, and dressed and created what she wanted to. Women loved the thought of wearing what Chanel had made, even though it was more towards the rich, everyone wanted to be in what Chanel had created. Chanel's line was truly legendary.
